SUMMARY:Whitesnake + Walking Papers
LOCATION:AB Grote zaal (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Bruxelles)
DESCRIPTION:Whitesnake (uk) In ’77\, after his Purple adventure\,\ncharismatic frontman David Coverdale established the\nlegendary Whitesnake\, still alive and kicking to this very\nday\, in the world of melodious rock/heavy metal. Following\na series of band-member changes (renowned guitarists like\nSteve Vai (Frank Zappa)\, Vivian Campbell (Def Leppard) and\nJohn Sykes (Thin Lizzy) learned how it should be done from\nCoverdale)\, this heavy metal-snake has been biting\nvenomously again since 2004! That resulted in two new\nalbums\, ‘Good To Be Bad' from 2008 and LP number 11\n‘Forevermore’ from 2011\, both of which received good\npress.“Coverdale’s revenge\, a fantastic concert full of\nsublime melodic rock” wrote MusicZine.be when\, in 2009\,\nWhitesnake smashed a churning AB to a pulp with hardrock\nclassics like ‘Still Of The Night’ and ‘Fool For Your\nLoving’. Coverdale is once again accompanied by the\nvirtuous guitar duo of Dough Aldrich & Reb Beach\,\ntightly reined by a new rhythm section. Bassist Michael\nDevin recently received the company of ex-drummer Tommy\nAldridge\, who has also struck the skins for Ozzy Osbourne\,\nThin Lizzy and the late Gary Moore. So Whitesnake rocks live\nas never before! Walking Papers (us) Kicking off\nwith Walking Papers from Seattle\, the band of Screaming\nTrees- and Guns N’ Roses-/Velvet Revolver-/Jane’s\nAddiction-veterans Barrett Martin and Duff McKagan.\nWe've also just identified the impressive rhythm section\nof this all-star band\, completed by the sandpapered blues\nthroat of Jeff Angell and Benjamin Anderson on keys (both\nex-The Missionary Position). Jangling bluesy guitar\nlicks supplemented by hypnotising rhythms and muscled bass\nlines\, just as rock ’n’ roll should be. This\ncharismatic quartet\, with an impressive number of\nrock&roll-kilometres on their meter\, doesn't have a\nlot to learn so that should produce sparks live. The guys\nare here to present their debut album of the same name from\n2012\, with Sub Pop-linked sound-mixer Jack Endino behind\nthe dials (he previously laid his hands upon the work of\nNirvana\, Therapy?\, Mudhoney and Soundgarden too) and Pearl\nJam’s Mike McCready helping out on guitar. \nThat's what we call dizzying name-dropping! We almost\nforgot to also mention that Barrett Martin also revamped the\ndrumwork for bands like Air\, R.E.M.\, Stone Temple Pilots\nand Queens Of The motherf****** Stone Age. More than\nreason enough to head on down to AB on 19 June? I thought so\n… \n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/whitesnake-walking-papers/a105J000001wdwHQAQ
