SUMMARY:Trentemøller + Den Sorte Skole
LOCATION:AB Grote zaal (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:We’re extremely proud to present “Lost”\, the third\nfull-length venture from AndersTrentemøller. “Lost”\,\nmuch like its predecessor “Into The Great Wide\nYonder”(2010)\, serves not only as a logical continuation\nof his work\, but also as yet anotherfuck-you to whatever\ngenre you thought you had him boxed into. The Trentemøller\nsound is definitely left intact\, yet as a whole it really\ndoesn’tsound like anything he’s ever produced before.\nFew artists seem to possess thatspecial talent of leaving\nthe audience just as baffled as they are satisfied\, but\nhey\,that’s what’s great about Anders. He may alienate a\nfew heads along the way\, butit wouldn’t be interesting\nfor him if he didn’t.“People wanted something similar to\nthe last album\, but if you’re getting to thepoint of\nlistening to people and what they think of your\nsound...Well\, that’s not forme”\, says Trentemøller. \n “Lost” boasts a dozen tracks with something of interest\nfor anyone who’s ever beena fan of the Copenhagen based\nproducer. You can’t really compare it to “The Last\nResort”\,but the club elements are there. It definitely\nisn’t “Into The Great Wide Yonder”either\, even if\nit’s equally guitar driven. It’s as original as it is\nclassic\, mixing the triedand tested with all sorts of sonic\nsurprises. And making it look easy in the process.Differing\nfrom “Into The Great Wide Yonder”\, which was a rather\nbold cinematiclandscape\, “Lost” is definitely a far\nmore streamlined affair and way more “songstructured”.\nIt’s the kind of record one can only produce after endless\nmonths ofstudio isolation. Just where his creativity\nflourishes best.Trentemøller has managed to bring on board\na whole rake of fantastic peers\,personal influences and\nsprouting talent. Co-conspirators such as Kazu Makino(Blonde\nRedhead)\, Jana Hunter (Lower Dens)\, Marie Fisker\, Ghost\nSociety andnone other than the legendary Low are all to be\nfound on the record. ”Lost” documents an artist\nreally hitting his stride. An intricate musical\ntapestrywoven over countless sleepless nights in his\nCopenhagen studio. Nights investedin instrument\nexperimentation and trashed analog consoles. You can without\nashadow of doubt call this release a genuine study in the\nart of attention to detail. No matter how many times you\npress play on this one you’re going to findsomething you\nmissed the previous time around. Something that suddenly\nshinesa whole new light on what you’re listening to. \n Den Sorte Skole (DK) Thousands of samples lifted off\nmore than 250 old vinyl records from 51 countries on\nsixcontinents. Two years of dedicated work followed by a\nfailed attempt to clear the samples with IFPIDenmark. This\nis the very short story behind the Copenhagen DJ- and\nproducer duo Den SorteSkole’s new magnum opus\, Lektion\nIII. A musical odyssey that blends everything from\nMoroccantraditional songs\, Indian hymns and field\nrecordings of Cameroonian Pygmies to forgottenYugoslav\npsych\, French avant-garde noise and early German electro\ninto a dark and giddy tripthrough musical history and\nbeyond.With these guys on stage there are no genres and no\nboundaries – armed with turntables\, samplersand\neffect-machines they make musical storytelling across time\nand space. Through their 10-yearcareer they have gathered a\nhuge following in Denmark. However\, they are still a very\nwell keptsecret abroad. This is about to change\, as they\nare now justifiable receiving a lot of attentionworldwide. \n
