DESCRIPTION:Rock band from Philadelphia throws Dylan\, Springsteen and\nTom Petty through the psychedelic blenderKurt Vile saw the\nvirtues of his songwriting capacities praised\ninternationally over recent months\, thanks to his album\n‘Smoke Ring For My Halo’. Vile was still a member of\nPhiladelphia's The War on Drugs until the end of 2008. A\nband operating in the fringe of the American music scene and\none that could already count on quite some support for their\n2008 debut ‘Wagonwheel Blues’. Main character Adam\nGranduciel has now come up with successor ‘Slave\nAmbient’ that is to be released by Secretly Canadian on\nAugust 16. With classic American rock (Dylan\, Petty\,\nSpringsteen) as his point of departure\, he creates complex\nbut at the same time infectious songs that repeatedly ignore\nthe basic principles of the genre. For example: the song\n‘Baby Missiles’ – that was also to be found on the EP\n‘Future Wheater’ – seems to have been taken from a\nfeverish Bruce Springsteen dream. A "hillbilly power\ndrone"\, according to Granduciel. An extra dash of\npsychedelica and distorted organs complete the whole and\nprovide it with a good touch of My Bloody Valentine.\nFollowing an unfortunate cancellation\, March 2011 is the\nmoment for revenge: on Saturday 17 September in the ABClub. \n  British experimental musician Alexander Tucker released\nthe album ‘Dorwytch’ on the Thrill Jockey label earlier\nthis year. On it he combines minimal string arrangements\nwith electronic drones\, thus creating what you could call\npsychedelic musique concrète collages.                     \n
