DESCRIPTION:The Veils\, that's still singer/guitarist Finn\nAndrews's band. They nestled effortlessly between Nick\nCave and the best of David Eugene Edwards with their second\nalbum ‘Nux Vomica’ (2006). ‘Sun Gangs’ is the title\nof the new album\, to be released on April 6\, and according\nto Finn it's ‘a very modern mixture of prayers\, love\nletters and personal record keeping.’ Rightly so\, as\ntogether with his band Andrews knows how to bring his\nneurotic world to life perfectly. The single ‘Sit Down By\nThe Fire’ is produced by Suede’s Bernard Butler while\nthe rest of the album was produced by Graham Sutton (Jarvis\nCocker\, British Sea Power) and has received fear\,\nloneliness and wild romance as a guideline. An album that\noptimally displays The Veils potential to the fullest.The\nVeils' debut 'The Runaway Found' was heaped with\nsuperlatives: 'To be filed alongside Coldplay\,\nStarsailor and Snow Patrol' (No Ripcord) or : 'What\nelevates The Veils above pleasant distraction... is\n(Andrews') extraordinary\, chameleon-like voice'.\n(Q) Referring to their second album ‘Nux Vomica’\,\nSoundslike.be wrote of: ‘… one of the most passionate\nrecords of recent time.’ They really scored a radio-hit in\nBelgium with with their single 'Lavinia'. And yes\,\nFinn is the son of Barry Andrews (XTC and Schriekback).   \nAmerican songsmith Richard Swift could still charm us just\nrecently at the SXSW showcase festival in Austin. We wrote\,\nat the time: ‘The 70's pop sound drenched in swinging\nNew Orleans style is borne by the musical virtuosity of\nSwift and band’. On April 7 his new album ‘The Atlantic\nOcean’ will be released on the Secretly Canadian label\,\nbut it was already clear that Swift would someday be\nsuccessful on predecessor ‘Dressed Up For The Letdown’.\nThe collective British music press wrote of that album:\n‘Prepare to lose your heart to him’ (8/10 NME);\n‘Swifts music is timeless … a magical sound’ (4/5 Q);\n‘Dressed Up For The Letdown is vividly of-the-moment\,\nrich in melody and wry optimism’ (4/5 Mojo); ‘In his own\nway Swift is as vivid a newcomer as Joanna Newsom or early\nRufus Wainwright’ (4/5 Uncut).
