Admittedly: the name\nWilliam Fitzsimmons doesn't yet sound exceptionally\nrenowned\, but that will soon change. Fans of Iron &\nWine\, Elliott Smith or Sufjan Stevens will take this\ntroubadour into their hearts right away. Just as those who\ndiscovered Fitzsimmons as the opener to Sophia earlier this\nyear in AB. This bushily bearded songwriter and son of blind\nparents has already released three albums including the\nrecent ‘The Sparrow And The Crow’\, hopefully soon to be\navailable in this part of the world too. In the US he tours\nas an appropriate opener to Madeleine Peyroux and his music\ncould previously be heard in the successful TV series\nGrey’s Anatomy. Boston Herald wrote of his most recent\nalbum: “A Near Masterpiece. … Fitzsimmons' artistic\nachievement is huge and lasting”. See here\, we've\nquite simply got nothing to add to that. 9:30 pm - THE\nIRREPRESSIBLES - Light And Show Spectacle“The\nIrrepressibles are one of Britain's best-kept secrets\,\nnoted for their orchestral arrangements\, dramatic songs\,\ntheatrical costumes and the soaring voice of Jamie\nMcDermott.” (The Independent) Never heard of The\nIrrepressibles? We hadn't either until recently… But a\ngood international informant couldn't contain his\nenthusiasm for this group. At the young (but impressive)\nLatitude Festival (UK) they last year appeared between Sigur\nRós\, our very own dEUS\, Joanna Newson and also The Mars\nVolta. The Observer wrote: “Best discovery at Latitude”.\nJust feast on a little MySpace and YouTube and you'll\nsoon change tack! The Irrepressibles are a 10 to 12-member\ncollective from London that isn't shy of a little\ntheatricality. The Sunday Telegraph described them as\nfollows: “Between early Roxy Music and a Peter Greenway\nmovie\, fronted by a singer\, Jamie McDermott\, who looks\nlike the young Bryan Ferry and sounds like Anthony.” The\nObserver goes one step further: “McDermott’s voice is\neven more astounding than Antony Hegarty’s”. Quite\nsomething!
