SUMMARY:The Galacticos + The Future Dead
LOCATION:AB Club - staand (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:Following their spacey EP ‘Phone Home’ adventure\,\nThe Galacticos are now back with a vengeance! ‘Aunt\nMary’ is the brand new single that serves as first course\nfor the first complete album ‘Paint The Town Rad’. For\nthose guilty of forgetfulness: The Galacticos (winner of\nLimbomania – finalist in Humo’s Rock) present\nhigh-school rock with catchy songs and infectious guitar\nriffs. Their ‘Phone Home’ was treated to extremely fine\nreviews. Humo: ‘If we had a car then this album would\ncontinually resound from the speakers: the effervescent pop\nsongs possess catchy melodies\, powerful hooks and refrains\nthat beg to be shouted along to’. The singles ‘Humble\nCrumble’\, ‘He said\, She said’ and ‘I’m with my\ngirl’ have all camped in the Studio Brussel CD-player. So\nit's high time for an even better sounding new album\nthat maybe even sounds a little more mature. In late 2010\,\narmed with new songs\, they headed into the studio to record\ntheir first full album with producer Pascal Deweze (Broken\nGlass Heroes\, Sukilove). ‘Paint The Town Rad’ is an\nalbum heavily laced with sixties-sound and bursting with\ncatchy riffs. The Future Dead are 5 guys from Ghent with a\npredilection for slightly damaged pop music. Their debut\nalbum will be released in February\, is titled ‘Ways Of\nNew Amusement’ and contains twelve sullen/cheery pop\nsongs. Call it bubblegum … shoegaze … slacker … pop.\nThe album was produced by unpublished duo Pascal Deweze and\nJeroen Swinnen\, who have together won enough spurs for\nthree. Mixer was Jamie Watson\, known from the likes of\nMogwai\, Mark E. Smith and The Vaselines.Coca-Cola Sessions?\nOur refreshing structural partner\, whose name is hidden in\nthe title\, has been providing 9 extra Club concerts to\nsupport debuting Belgian talent since the '09-'10\nconcert season. All for a beautiful and youthful audience.\nWhat's more\, in the first press release we wrote: ‘Do\nyou already want to discover the performer who'll be\nclosing Herman Schueremans garden party in a few years’?\nThat sentence really did turn out to be visionary\, as both\nBalthazar and Customs already appeared at Rock Werchter last\nsummer. We've already presented another new series of\nmuch talked about Coca-Cola Sessions this season\, with sold\nout concerts by Arquettes\, The Tellers\, Addicted Kru Sound\nfeat. Selah Sue and Netsky. As of this season\, each session\nwill be supplemented by reports\, to be viewed on ABtv and\nMoodio.tv. In the first part of 2011 it'll be the turn\nof the likes of The Galacticos\, Steak Number Eight and\nIntergalactic Lovers. \n
