'No-winking\nhonest' American folkrock par excellence    Americana?\nApparently their tour happens to be called the 'Fuck\nAmericana Tour'! The Felice Brothers are an impressive\nset of American musicians\, roots related and with\nsufficient busking experience. We recall with pleasure their\nofficial debut from 2007: 'Tonight At The Arizona'\,\nalready with all that fantastic vocal harmony and solid\n'songs' like those also delivered by The Band (plus\nof course a song like 'Ballad Of Lou The\nWelterweight' and a fantastic phrase like 'Powder\nYour Nose\, pull off your pantyhose\, let me love you from\nbehind\, my darling'.)The Felice Brothers have now\ncompleted their new CD 'Celebration\, Florida'\, on\nFat Possum\, out here on Munich (via V2) and first single\n'Ponzi' is certainly yet another idiosyncratic\nwinner.For those who also get a kick out of Wilco\, My\nMorning Jacket\, Ryan Bingham\, Avett Brothers\, Bob\nDylan... The Felice Brothers fit right into that stubborn\ngenre.Thus also for those keen on solid and sensationally\nsung English lyrics. Here's another quote from their own\nsite: '…what separates The Felices’ mud-stomping\nfolk from that of their peers is their no-winking honesty\n– the sense that these songs and the places and people\nthey’re singing about aren’t literary devices but actual\npeople doing their damnedest to rage against the growing\ndarkness.' – Filter Good Music Guide\, 2009    Support\nact will be none less than A.A. Bondy\, here in trio\, with\nextra musicians from The Felice Brothers. A.A. Bondy is the\nex-Verbena frontman who has also released 2 fine solo CDs\nsince 2007: 'American Hearts' (recorded in the\nCatskills mountains) and 'When The Devil's\nLoose' (recorded in the Mississippi Delta.)
