Each year for the\nCARTE BLANCHE series the AB appoints an (inter)national\nperformer as curator to compile his or her own\nweekend-programme. The unique thing about this curatorship\nis that this AB-curator not only functions as programmer\,\nbut also forms the theme (as performer but also as part of\nthe collaborations on stage). In '04 MAURO PAWLOWSKI\ntook on the first edition. Last year it was the turn of\ninternationally renowned choreographer WIM VANDEKEYBUS. This\nyear ZITA SWOON frontman STEF KAMIL CARLENS has the honour.\nStef Kamil Carlens is no unknown to the AB. He's been\nhere before with dEUS (during the Rock Rally)\, Zita Swoon\,\nthe dance show 'Plage Tattoo'\, the film project\n'Sunrise'\, Kiss My Jazz and also solo during the\nSaint Amour literary evening. He'll compile an exciting\nprogramme for the AB\, a mix of music (from classic to\npop)\, images and spoken word. On the programme for SUNDAY\n23 NOVEMBER: B'Rock (B & ...) The central attraction\nis B'ROCK\, A Flemish but internationally oriented\nbaroque orchestra containing young baroque specialists from\nFlanders\, The Netherlands\, Germany\, France and England.\nTheir core repertoire is music from the baroque period of\nthe 17th and 18th centuries. Aside from 'established\nsongs' the orchestra likes to pay attention to less\nwell-known repertoire and even modern day music. Central to\nthe Carte Blanche performance are the works of Johann\nSebastian Bach. Claire Chevalier (Fr) Pianoforte specialist\nCLAIRE CHEVALLIER also comes from the classical corner. This\nFrench pianist\, who found a new home in Antwerp\, will\ninterpret the work of the French (minimalist) pianist Eric\nSatie. By the way\, this autumn she will also release an\nalbum of Satie interpretations including the pieces\n'Gnossiennes' and 'Gymnopédies'. Chevallier\n(no unknown to halls like Kaaitheater\, deSingel or Bozar)\nalso has and exceptional interest in various artistic\ndisciplines\, which has led to collaborations with dance\,\ntheatre\, or film makers like Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker\n(Rosas)\, Wayn Traub\, Josse de Pauw and Rudolf Mestdagh.\nStef Kamil Carlens - solo (B) STEF KAMIL CARLENS will be\ndoing it solo this evening. SKC fans appreciate that this is\na rarity. We saw SKC make a lasting impression solo during\nSaint Amour this year & at a small instore gig in\nAntwerp where he interpreted songs from Neil Diamond\,\nBonnie 'Prince' Billy and Joni Mitchell. SKC solo?\nLike we say\, a unique experience! De Kift (Nl) DE KIFT from\nThe Netherlands will be part of it all too (for the first\ntime!) and this year they mark their 20-year milestone. De\nKift can still guarantee a dizzying mix of East-European\nfolk music\, a dash of chanson\, Dutch fanfare and all that\nwith a solid injection of punk. To mark their 20-year\nexistence\, De Kift are also releasing a number of unique\nsplit-singles whereby De Kift fans record their Kift version\nand vice-versa. Already confirmed for the series are: Zita\nSwoon and Calexico! Rudy Trouvé Septet (B) RUDY TROUVÉ\nhardly needs any introduction. This musical millipede was\nactive in many a combo: dEUS\, Dead Man Ray\, Kiss My Jazz\,\nThe Love Substitutes and Prima Donkey. Aside from that he is\nalso the soul of the Heaven Hotel label that mainly serves\nto present his own output. Most releases are even packaged\nin a painting from his own hand. About his latest album\n'Songs And Stuff Recorded Between 2003 And 2007\, Part\nOne'\, Focus Knack wrote: 'Succulente verzameling\nprachtsongs vol heerlijke gitaarmelodieën\, bossaritmes\,\nwarme blazers en subtiele elektronica'. Humo: 'Een\nheerlijk eclectische mix van liedjes en instrumentals'.\nBlue Flamingo (Nl) Let's meet the night festively with\nBLUE FLAMINGO - alter-ego of Rotterdammer Ziya Ertekin?\nHe's addicted to 78 rpm records and his superb mix-album\n'Blue Flamingo 78 r.p.m.' is a timewarp to the\n'30's in which jazz\, exotica and mambo reign.\nUnique and wonderfully crackly to boot. For those who think\nthat MP3's and CD's sound good: refresh yourself\nwith the real shit! \n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/stef-kamil-carlens/a105J000001wgVlQAI
