SUMMARY:Sons of Noel and Adrian + The Bear That Wasn't
LOCATION:AB Salon - zittend (Steenstraat 11\, 1000 Bruxelles)
DESCRIPTION:7:00 pm - SOUNDTRACK BY… The Owl Jolsons8:30 pm - The Bear\nThat Wasn'tThe Bear That Wasn't – a name is\nderived from the children's book by Frank Tashlin from\n’46 - is the alter-ego of Nils Verresen. Armed with an\nacoustic guitar and angelic vocal chords\, he's already\nimpressed us at the AB as opener for Kimya Dawson. He often\ncites to Gravenhurst\, Sufjan Stevens\, Bon Iver and Elliott\nSmith as influences. His debut ‘And So It Is Morning\nDew’ was released this spring\, on which - true to\ntradition - he comes up with fine song titles like ‘The\nLittle Witch And The Brave Boy Are Going To Venus’ or\n‘The Exciting Adventures of A Bad Bet\, A Bad Alliteration\nAnd Mister Consequences’. But more importantly: it's\nan album full of wonderful Duyster-music with gems like\n‘Winterwandering’ that you immediately want to put on\nendless repeat. Before and after his visit to the\nFeeërieën\, this bear is/will be finishing a tour of\nBelgium under the title ‘365 dagen’\, he travels by\nbicycle and with acoustic guitar to visit 365 households\nwilling to provide him with accommodation for the night. In\nexchange Nils gives a living-room concert. A film about this\nunique project will later be released by the people behind\n‘Part of the Weekend Never Dies’\, Soulwax' tour\ndocumentary.9:45 pm - Sons of Noel and AdrianA twelve-member\nexperimental folk band from Brighton that centres around Tom\nCowan (son of Adrian) and Jacob Richardson (indeed\, son of\nNoel). We immediately fell for the band after hearing their\ntrack 'The Wreck is Not a Boat' (from their debut of\nthe same name) on MySpace. Not only the deep\, emotional\nvoice of Tom Cowan is a winner but also the band's rich\nmusical sound (think: cello\, violin\, trumpet\,\nclarinet\,…). They've toured with the likes of David\nGrubbs\, Peggy Sue\, Rothko and even twice with Mumford\n& Sons. They've shared a stage with Laura Marling in\nthe prestigious Royal Festival Hall and with Jaga Jazzist\nand Efterklang in the Barbican in London. Recent musical\naccomplishment: This year's release of the ‘Rivers’\nEP. Are you ready for their undoubtedly impressive Belgian\nstage debut? \n \n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/sons-of-noel-and-adrian-the-bear-that-wasnt/a105J000001wgfdQAA
