DESCRIPTION:Ex-Digable Planets rapper challenges Tyler\, The\nCreator.Wham bam! ‘Black Up’ - by relatively brand new\nhip-hop collective Shabazz Palaces - is quite an uppercut!\nThis group was the first rap act to reside on the rather\nguitar-oriented Sub Pop record label. Shabazz who? Behind\nShabazz Palaces you will find none less than Palaceer\nLazaro\, or rather Ishmael Butler from the\nno-longer-existing but ever excellent rap act Digable\nPlanets (that fused jazz with hip-hop in the early\n'90's). Their debut ‘Black Up’ is an inspiring\navant garde hip-hop album that is rather darkly tinted by\nsparing beats and militant raps. Humo about it: “Tyler\,\nthe Creator probably won't give a shit but he can forget\nabout the trophy for Most Exciting Hip-Hop Album 2011.”\nAnd we can only agree. For the first time in Belgium.   \nSupport act will be Hasselt resident and laptop-artist\nNinjato. We saw him at work recently during 'Groot\nGeweld' in AB and were seriously impressed.\n"Intense\, persistent beats with a solid injection of\nFlying Lotus" went through our mind at the time.\nNinjato - his nom de plume refers to the sword worn by the\nninjas\, in their day – studied at the PHL Pop and Rock\nSchool in Hasselt and makes no secret of his love of Flying\nLotus\, Eskmo and Amon Tobin. In '08 he established\nCaoutchou Records with a few friends from Ghent\, with a\nfocus on underground electronica.
