SUMMARY:Section 25 & Peter Hook
LOCATION:AB Box (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:SECTION 25 & PETER HOOK PLAYING A SELECTION OF JOY\nDIVISON\, NEW ORDER & SECTION 25 SONGS + KEVIN HEWICK +\nSCREENING OF ... JOY DIVISION (Grant Gee) + AFTERPARTY WITH\no.a. PETER HOOK (JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER) & GORE (Cruise\n(Ctrl)) Joy Division and Brussels. They seem perfectly\nsuited. Not only was their first performance outside the UK\nin Brussels (in '79 in Plan K\, to be precise)\, but\nalso the idea for this full-evening programme arose last\nyear in Brussels when Section 25 and ex-Joy Division and\nex-New Order bassist Peter Hook shared a stage and got\nespecially enthusiastic to do 'something' together.\nThe result: a complete evening programme consisting of: 6:30\npm (Abbox) SCREENING OF ... 'JOY DIVISION'\n('07\, director: GRANT GEE\, 96 min.) The average Joy\nDivision-fan can't complain. Last year the gripping\nbiopic 'Control' by Anton Corbijn was released\,\nfollowed immediately by the documentary 'Joy\nDivision' from excellent director Grant Gee\, who\nsketches the history of this legendary band. ' ...\nanother very powerful and moving film ... a MUST-SEE'.\nwrote The Guardian in capitals. We still know director Grant\nGee from the excellent documentary 'Meeting People is\nEasy' about the tour-life of Radiohead and also the\nlikes of the fantastic video clip 'No Surprises'\n(Radiohead). 8:00 pm (Abbox) Kevin HewickWhen Ian Curtis\ngave up the ghost\, the owner of Factory Records (see: Joy\nDivision\, Section 25\, Happy Mondays\, ...) Tony Wilson\,\nsupposedly suggested that they try working with Kevin Hewick\nas new singer. The only result was the track\n'Haystack'\, recorded in 1980 with producer Martin\nHannett. Hewick later worked with Peter Hook\, A Certain\nRatio and Adrian Borland (The Sound) and was often to be\nfound in Factory Records circles. Now on the AB-stage\,\narmed only with an acoustic guitar. 9:00 pm (Abbox) Section\n25 & Peter Hook PLAYING A SELECTION OF JOY DIVISON\, NEW\nORDER & SECTION 25 SONGS 'I'm scared to death\,\nbut it'll be great to do a full gig. I've missed\nplaying too much! (Peter Hook) This autumn SECTION 25 &\nPETER HOOK are off to play a number of concerts together\,\nonly a mini-tour. Their set will contain songs from JOY\nDIVISION ('Transmission'\, 'Love Will Tear Us\nApart'\, 'Shadowplay'\, ...)\, SECTION 25\n('Looking From A Hilltop'\, 'Dirty Disco'\,\n...)\, NEW ORDER ('Temptation'\, 'Blue\nMonday'\, 'Dreams Never End'\, ...) and MONACO\n('What Do You Want From Me?'\, ...). Section 25 and\nPeter first performed together in '79 during the heyday\nof Factory Records when Section 25 often served as\nsupport-act to Joy Division. Peter Hook is of course known\nas the bass player to Joy Division and New Order. Section\n25's first single ('Girls Don't Count') was\nat the time produced by Ian Curtis and they had a worldwide\nclub-hit with the single 'Looking From a Hilltop'.\nmyspace Timing 6pm deuren 6:30pm Film 8pm\nKevin Hewick 9pm Section 25 10:30 pm (ABCLUB)\nAFTERPARTY WITH DJ'S GORE (Cruise (Ctrl)) & PETER\nHOOK (JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER) The party continues.
