So\nwe just freely quote a recent Humo on the debut CD ‘Again\nInto Eyes’ below!They took the abbreviation S.C.U.M.\n(Society for Cutting Up Men) from the manifesto of the same\nname by Valerie Solanas\, the crazy feminist who shot Andy\nWarhol; Portishead already programmed them at All\nTomorrow's Parties\, the hippest of all festivals\,\nbefore they even had an album out; one member is related by\nfamily to The Horrors\, an other to Add N to (X)...The sound\nis certainly monumental: each and every song floats in an\nocean of synths en keyboards\, with singer Thomas Cohen\nalternating the role of fog-horn and siren... Epic guitar\nrock in an ambitious British tradition that extends to The\nVerve and Echo & The Bunnymen\, while the last song and\nlatest single 'Whitechapel' betrays\, yet again how\nimportant Arcade Fire has been for the youngest generation\nof musicians...But we like S.C.U.M. better when they go\ncompletely synthetic\, from ominous calm in 'Cast Into\nSeasons'\, that reminds of Talk Talk\, to the perfect\nstorm in 'Summon the Sound'. Lastly\,\n'Paris' is a baroque gem that can carry its own\nweight: piano patterns in the foreground\, rearguard battles\nbetween feedback and synths...We're already looking\nforward to the successor to 'Again Into Eyes': if\nthe band manages to keep up with their own aspirations\,\nit'll be a merciless hit.    Support-act will be locals\nSabena. Driving en cheery electro-pop with African\nconnections. May their career really take off now!          \n
