SUMMARY:School of Seven Bells
LOCATION:AB Club - staand (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:School of Seven Bells probably doesn't – euh – ring\nany big bells here but this trio from Brooklyn is led by\nBenjamin Curtis. But we know Curtis from Secret Machines\,\nthe group he left in 2007 to concentrate on this project.\nJust recently they were one of the much talked about\nfavourites of the CMJ showcase festival in New York. Their\nalbum ‘Alpinisms’ was released on the Ghostly\nInternational label (see too Matthew Dear or avant-hopper\nDabrye – check respectively ‘Asa Breed’ and\n‘Two/Three’ and you won't regret it – out here via\nFull Time Hobby/PIAS. In School Of Seven Bells\, Curtis\nreceives the assistance of the Deheza sisters who we in turn\nknow from On! Air! Library! That resulted in top-class\npsychedelic dream-pop. Prog choral sixties song over a mix\nof whisper-afro-beat and contemporary pop. Anyone for Death\nCab For Cutie meets Cocteau Twins? Support-act will be\nthe dreamy electronica of Petersonic\, alter ego of Peter\nBaert from Brussels. His new album is called 'This\nWay' (successor to the 2005 release 'Touch #6')\nand it is bursting with electronica that has a heart and\nsoul. Collages put together with an eye for detail\, a\nunique mix of samples and live recordings that he then\nchases through a sampler. A method that he himself describes\nas Human Random. School of\nSeven Bells - White Elephant Coat
