SUMMARY:Sam Amidon + Few Bits + Ignatz
LOCATION:AB Salon - zittend (Steenstraat 11\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:Soundtrack by: DJ Stonewood 8:00 pm Ignatz (be) \n The music of Ignatz – Bram Devens' alter ego – is\nextremely elusive and could easily have been plucked from\nthe mother of all compilations: Harry Smith’s superb\n‘Anthology Of American Folk Music’. But then with a\nserious dash of Velvet Underground. His latest album ‘Can\nI Go Home Now’ – another gem – was released via the\nquality Finnish indie label Fonal. Ignatz has already opened\nfor artists like Ducktails\, Six Organs of Admittance and\nSir Richard Bishop and is certainly one of the recognizable\ncharacters in the Belgian music scene. 8:45 pm \nFew Bits (be) Few Bits is the Antwerpian band\nencompassing singer-songwriter Karolien Van Ransbeeck\, who\nrecently released her untitled debut on the solid\nZealrecords (purveyor of musical class like Isbells\, Marble\nSounds and Renée). Even before her debut was out\, she had\nalready stolen the hearts of Admiral Freebee\, Heather\nNova\, I Blame Coco and Jessica Lea Mayfield and had the\nopportunity of honorarily opening for them. Her album\nresounds with the sounds of The Sundays and Mazzy Star. The\npress responded with praise: **** (De Morgen) and also:\n“An album that impresses. … Already a candidate for the\nend-of-year charts.” 9:45 pm Sam Amidon (us) \nThings are going well for Sam Amidon\, who now has Beth\nOrthon at his side as spouse. After three beautiful and\ncompelling albums\, it would seem that this folky\ntroubadour's time has really now come. His latest album\n'Bright Sunny South' is soon to be released via the\nfamous Nonesuch label (see too: Brad Mehldau\, Devendra\nBanhart\, Lianne La Havas\, Wilco...). On it\, he receive\nthe assistance of Thomas ‘Doveman’ Bartlett (Iron &\nWine\, The National\, Sharon Van Etten)\, famous jazz\ntrumpet player Kenny Wheeler and top producer Jerry Boys\n(Buena Vista Social Club\, Ali Farka Toure\, The Cat\nEmpire\,...). Sam Amidon is still a part of\nIceland's Bedroom Community collective (that also\nincludes Valgeir Sigurðsson\, Nico Muhly and Ben Frost\nbehoren). He's already played three times in AB and\nappears now for the first time there where he's\ncertainly most suited: the Feeërieën. \n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/sam-amidon-few-bits-ignatz/a105J000001wgrGQAQ
