Cinephile music\nlovers know Ryan Bingham from 'The Weary Kind'\,\nwhich was another (milder) T Bone Burnett production and an\nOscar winner from the soundtrack to Crazy Heart (yep\, that\nconsummate 'country film' with Jeff Bridges!).So\nfrom now on it's really Ryan Bingham & The Dead\nHorses. Another interesting detail too: apparently Ryan once\nhad a career as rodeo-rider!? Britain's Uncut already\nwrote of 'Junky Star': '...songs that veer from\nrainy-day Dylan to Steve Earle and the border-town blues of\nTerry Allen.' To throw in that other Q magazine at the\nsame time too: 'With the worn\, leathery tones and\nskewed romanticism of an ageing drifter who's seen only\nhard times\, he's anything but starry-eyed on this dour\ncollection of no-frills Americana'.
