This time with their own\, certainly no\nless impressive\, compositions: 11 in total\, and according\nto their site: '11:11 is Rod & Gab’s personal\n"Gracias" to a first XI of musicians\, both past\nand present\, who have inspired them along the way.'\nRodrigo y Gabriela are a fantastic instrumental phenomenon.\nJust ask anyone who attended those two full and frenzied AB\nconcerts in recent years: only satiated music-lovers to be\nfound\, who had experienced a sweltering\, exciting and\nintense live concert (and couldn't shut up about it.)\nThis summer at Ghent Jazz and Werchter. De Standaard wrote\nof the latter: 'Top Tien van het festival. Het werd echt\nleuk toen Rodrigo Y Gabriela aan het experimenteren sloegen.\nZe stoeiden met een wahwahpedaal en lieten de funk in hun\nmuziek druppelen. Bij momenten deed het woeste gebonk op de\nklankkast denken aan techno. With inside also:\n'thoroughly genre defying... an enigma... a global\nmish-mash\, and therefore\, perhaps\, the future?'\nRODRIGO SANCHEZ & GABRIELA QUINTERO's unique musical\nmix has been more than sufficiently run in: purely\ninstrumental and acoustic\, but varied and well-attuned.For\nthose who are still wondering: Is it world music? Is it\nfolk? Is it jazz? They say themselves that it is definitely\nnot flamenco\, but its energy and passion are certainly\nthere\, bursting with 'Latin harmonies & rock\nstructure'. Then we'll call it WORLD ROCK!? Rodrigo\n& Gabriela can count on friends like David Gray\n(remember AB February 2006?)\, Damien Rice or violinist Roby\nLakatos. Their untitled breakthrough CD was produced by John\nLeckie (see also: Radiohead\, Stone Roses\, Muse...) With\nthat CD they immediately went to number 1 in the Irish\ncharts\, and it still sells well worldwide (now aside a\n'Live In Dublin' and a 'Live In Japan'.)Not\nbad for two Mexicans without conservatory training\, but\nrather a heavy metal history and lessons from the school of\nhard knocks\, on the streets (of Europe).
