DESCRIPTION:For the first time in Europe: Belgian saxophonist Robin\nVerheyen's new quartet. Robin Verheyen is the rising\nstar of Belgian jazz. At barely twenty years of age he\nestablished himself in New York\, there he often plays in\nsmall clubs in Manhattan and Brooklyn where fresh talent and\nbig names (like Branford Marsalis) rub shoulders. That\ncompetitive environment is perfectly suited to the driven\nperformer Verheyen and it constantly inspires him to newer\nchallenges.Verheyen’s quartet is the most ambitious band\nto date. Ralph Alessi is known as one of the most creative\nperformers on his instrument and is key figure in the bands\nof Uri Caine\, Fred Hersch and Ravi Coltrane\, amongst\nothers. Driven by one of the most striking rhythm sections\nof the new New York scene\, the quartet combines a vast\nmusicality with an enormous dedication and sense of\nadventure.
