DESCRIPTION:Radiohead is currently residing in the studio to work on the\nsuccessor to the (once again) excellent ‘In Rainbows’.\nHow original Radiohead drummer Philip Selway managed to find\nthe time to work on his solo-debut ‘Familial’ is a very\ngood question. Even more so when you consider that for\nRadiohead – and\, by extension\, all Radiohead\nsolo-projects – the qualitative demands are (rightly)\nexceedingly high. That can also to be heard on\n‘Familial’\, where Selway reveals himself to be a\nconvincing singer-songwriter who immediately reminds one of\nNick Drake. Selway also receives the pretty much perfect\nassistance of the likes of Lisa Germano\, Wilco-drummer\nGlenn Kotche and (remember them?) Soul Coughing bassist\nSebastian Steinberg. Remarkable detail: two tracks on this\nalbum date from the time of 7 Worlds Collide\, Neil\n‘Crowded House’ Finn's benefit project to which\,\naside from the previously mentioned performers\, Johnny Marr\n(The Smiths)\, Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) and Ed O’Brien\n(Radiohead) were also invited. ‘Familial’ will be\nreleased 30 August on the famous Bella Union label (see too:\nMidlake\, Fleet Foxes\, The Low Anthem\, ...). We've\nalready heard the album and were immediate fans!    Support\nis provided by labelmate Lone Wolf. His debut\, 'The\nDevil And I'\, came out earlier this year to favourable\nreviews (see below). He counts Tom Waits\, Joanna Newsom\,\nJason Molina\, Fleet Foxes\, and Nick Drake among his\ninfluences.
