DESCRIPTION:10 Years ago indie rock-band Pavement played their last\nconcert in the Brixton Academy in London on 20 November\n1999. Frontman Stephen Malkmus and the other band members\nhad – according to their record company – turned their\nheads to 1. Start families 2. Sail around the world 3. Get\ninto the computer industry 4. Dance 5. Get some\nattention.Fast forward to 2009. On 15 September prominent\nblog Brooklyn Vegan reports that the band will perform again\nand that 4 concerts in New York have already been confirmed\n(and meanwhile been sold out in record time). The grape vine\nimmediately went into overdrive: ‘Are they curating All\nTomorrow’s Parties this year?’ ‘Are they playing at\nPrimavera?’. Yup\, Pavement is well and truly back again\,\nas all these concerts have now been confirmed. Also\nincluding a concert on Belgian soil too\, namely in the AB\non Tuesday 18 May 2010.Pavement is and remains the spearhead\nfor an entire generation of music lovers. Attributed as\nslackers\, named after their lazy\, laid back playing\nstyle\, the band attained an underground star status in the\nlo-fi scene (the antithesis of hi-fi\, more often than not\ntheir albums had a poor sound mix). They worked themselves\ninto the limelight right away with their debut ‘Slanted\n& Enchanted’ from 1992\, but the real breakthrough\ncame with the third album ‘Crooked Rain\, Crooked\nRain’\, from which the single ‘Cut Your Hair’ became\nan enormous hit. ‘Wowee Zowee’ from 1995 is the virtual\nclose to their discography as the 2 albums that followed\nturned out to be mostly uninspired. In the aforementioned\nperiod\, the band played twice in the AB: March '97 and\nNovember '99. Since 2002 the record company Matador has\nre-released the albums ‘Slanted & Enchanted’\,\n‘Crooked Rain\, Crooked Rain’\, ‘Wowee Zowee’ and\n‘Brighten The Corners’ \, each time containing a\ncartload of unreleased bonus material.The Pavement members\nweren't sitting still during their hiatus. Malkmus was\nthe most active (with The Silver Jews but especially also\nsolo) and performed regularly too\, with or without The\nJicks in the AB: February 2001\, April 2001\, April 2003\,\nSeptember 2005 and June 2008. Runner-up is Scott Kannberg\nwho made 2 albums with Preston School Of Industry and just\nrecently released a deserving solo album under his alias\nSpiral Stairs.Don't miss this unique concert and relive\na true piece of music history with brilliant songs like\n‘Stereo’\, ‘Range Life’\, ‘Cut Your Hair’\,\n‘Shady Lane’\, Rattled By The Rush’ and many many\nmore.    Support act will be American indie-band Quasi\, who\nalready have a long list of albums to their name\, of which\nthe most recent is obtainable in Europe thanks to the most\ninteresting Domino label. The trio consists of Sam Coomes\,\nJanet Weiss and Joanna Bolme and we know these last 2 from\nStephen Malkmus’ accompanying band\, The Jicks.
