SUMMARY:Motorpsycho + Madensuyu + Radical Slave
LOCATION:AB Box (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Bruxelles)
DESCRIPTION:8:00 pm - Motorpsycho The debut-tape (or rather: demo)\n‘Maiden Voyage’ by one of our favourite Norwegian bands\n- Motorpsycho - was released exactly 20 years ago.\nMotorpsycho still deal in indie-rock with a seriously\npsychedelic character and bursts of heavy metal\, complete\nwith the necessary experiment\, pop and even jazz. Their\nband name hails from the 1965 film of the same name by\nbig-breast king Russ Meyer. In twenty years time the band\nhas written quite an oeuvre. Remember the double-album\n‘Demon Box’ (’93)\, ‘Timothy’s Monster’ (’94)\nand also ‘Trust Us’ (’98) or ‘Let Them Eat Cake’\n(’00)… The band has remained super-active\, even in\nrecent years. Remember the album ‘Child Of The Future’\nproduced by Steve Albini and released last year – on vinyl\nonly – or this year's release ‘Heavy Metal Fruit’\n- labelled by the band as a ‘spacerockopera’. Those who\nhave already experienced Motorpsycho live know that the band\nis always at its best. Considering their collected works\,\nyou can be sure to expect a set that will easily exceed 120\nminutes … 7:00 pm - MadensuyuEnergetic duo that\nstill consists of Stijn De Gezelle (guitar/bass) and\nPieterjan Vervondel (drums). They're mad about Velvet\nUnderground\, Pixies and Sonic Youth. Arno is also a fan and\nalready invited them to open for him in a full house called\nVorst Nationaal. Producer Peter Vermeersch (Flat Earth\nSociety) sat behind the dials to produce their second album\n‘D is Done’. To round off\, just this from De Morgen\nabout Madensuyu (Turkish for sparkling mineral water):\n"Madensuyu has rarely sounded more compelling\,\ndisturbing or furious". On top of that\, they received\na ****-review. 6:00 pm - Radical Slave Growing's\nEuropean tour didn't work out and\, as a result\, they\nwon't be opening the triple bill with Motorpsycho that\nis planned for Sunday 30 May.But Growing's replacement\nwill be a formidable one: Radical Slave or rather the brand\nnew no-wave project of Dirk Swartenbroekx (BUSCEMI)\, Maura\nPawlowski (dEUS\, himself and thousands of other intriguing\nprojects dear to our heart) and Remo Perotti (ex-Bedtime For\nBonzo). Swartenbroekx has had this project in mind for a\nwhile and now has the opportunity to bring it to life. New\nYork's no-wave scène (late seventies\, early eighties)\nhad a huge influence upon the likes of Sonic Youth and the\nLiars. \n \n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/motorpsycho-madensuyu-radical-slave/a105J000001wgeuQAA
