DESCRIPTION:Mon Rovîa calls the mountains of Tennessee his home\, but\nhe’s had an intense journey before settling there. The\nmusician was born in war-torn Liberia\, where he managed to\nescape life as a child soldier thanks to the help of\nmissionaries. In the years that followed\, he lived in\nvarious places\, trying to process his trauma. On top of\nthat came the challenge of cultural assimilation that Mon\nexperienced as a transracially adopted refugee.Mon’s music\nis a sonic fusion of these experiences\, blended with the\nempathy he feels for the people he encounters throughout his\nlife.His exposure to different cultures can be heard in his\nmusic\, where he seamlessly weaves American folk and African\nrhythms into a comforting musical tapestry.
