SUMMARY:Milow
LOCATION:AB Grote zaal (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:Milow\, Jonathan Vandenbroeck's (26) artistic figure\,\nis a stickler. 'You Don't Know' is an amazing\nsong. Only\, according to the maker\, the song didn't\nsound good enough on his debut album 'The Bigger\nPicture' (2006). So he made a new arrangement and\nrecorded the song again... with the last of his savings\, as\nhe'd not only invested his heart and soul in the first\nalbum. He released 'The Bigger Picture' himself. The\nreason: too little interest from the industry. His\nstubbornness was rewarded and displays a performer with\ninsight. 'You Don't Know' turned out to be a\nspecial sort of beautiful swan\, that charmed every radio\nstation. The song followed an exceptional course. It pushed\n'The Bigger Picture' to gold\, resulted in a\nsold-out ABBox in May 2007 and a spot at Rock Werchter that\nsame year and provided Milow with three MIAs (Music Industry\nAwards). The deserved result of hard work\, as the young man\ncertainly doesn't rest on his laurels. Between all those\nmajor moments he's made a new album with producer Jo\nFrancken\, one that especially wasn't allowed to sound\ntoo much like the first one. 'Coming Of Age' is less\nsober and a heap catchier. You can hear that Milow has been\nplaying with a band for a year and a half. The great\nrevelation is the songs in which he sings together with Nina\nBabet\, previously prominent with Ozark Henry and 4T4.\nJonathan (vocals\, guitar); Nina Babet (backing vocals); Tom\nVanstiphout (guitar\, backing vocals); Joris Caluwaerts\n(piano); Jasper Hautekiet (contrabass); Frederik Van Den\nBerghe (drum) Douglas Firs is the singer-songwriter\nwho'll be opening in style for a sold-out Milow concert.\nThis Gertjan Van Hellemont is a classically trained\nguitarist\, but is also a singer and songwriter with a fancy\nfor the work of folks like Ryan Adams and James Taylor\, the\npop melodies of The Beatles\, and the country blues of North\nMississippi Allstars. After his shows people sometimes point\nout influences like Neil Young\, Grant-Lee Phillips or\nJackson Browne. DOUGLAS FIRS\n‘I Will Let You Down’
