SUMMARY:Maxwell
LOCATION:AB Grote zaal (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:“BLACKsummers’ night” is Maxwell’s fourth studio\nalbum and the first installment of a trilogy entitled\n“BLACK SUMMERS’NIGHT”. BLACK is a much darker but\nsoulful compilation and 8 years since his last offering\,\nSUMMERS’ leans more toward the Gospel side and NIGHT is\nmore a cool collection of slow jams. In 1996\, the then\n23-year old Brooklyn born phenomenon took the music world by\nstorm with his debut\, “Urban Hang Suite”. The\ncritically acclaimed CD received a Grammy nomination for\nBest R&B Album and went on to achieve double platinum\nstatus. Maxwell’s 'MTV: Unplugged' (1997) achieved\ngold status. He was heralded as the future of soul music and\nproved his staying power when he followed up with 1998’s\nplatinum seller “Embrya”. In 1999 Maxwell’s single\,\n“Fortunate” (off of the LIFE soundtrack) became\nBillboard magazine’s number one hit of the year.\nMaxwell’s third album\, “Now” (2001) debuted at #1 on\nthe Billboard Top 200 Album Chart; selling 300\,000 copies\nits maiden week and eventually also reaching double platinum\nstatus. The album was appropriately described by\nEntertainment Weekly as “A velvetined gauntlet thrown at\nthe feet of today’s bling-bling-obsessed R&B\npack.”This is Maxwell’s first full European tour in 11\nyears\, and will accompany his US No.1 album and his\nforthcoming appearance on “Later with Jools Holland” on\n27th October.
