DESCRIPTION:7:00 pm - SOUNDTRACK BY… DJ JASPER 8:30 pm - HAUSCHKA\n(d)“’Ferndorf’ is a sweet and spirited adventure in\npastoral(pseudo)glitch that tracks back to Eric Satie and\nRalph Vaughn Williams.“ (Mojo) Hauschka is the alter-ego\nof Dusseldorf resident and pianist/composer Volker\nBertelmann. As a classically trained pianist he fully\nexplores the possibilities of the prepared piano and\, in\ndoing so\, he follows in the footsteps of American composer\nJohn Cage - who is considered to be the spiritual father of\nthe prepared piano. Hauschka places leather or rubber\nbetween the strings or modifies the hammers of the piano\nwith aluminium foil and adds electronica. Puristic or\nacademic perfection is completely foreign to him. Rather\,\nhe uses the piano as a means of producing rhythm rather than\nmelody. His work often exhibits parallels with the\nminimalism of Steve Reich\, Philip Glass or Michael Nyman.\nIn recent years he has primarily worked for the famous Fat\nCat label\, see: his recently released album ‘Ferndorf’\nand the EP ‘Snowflakes & Carwrecks’. These sound\n‘fuller’ than his earlier work\, thanks to the use of\nstrings\, a formula which he will also apply when appearing\nat the Feeërieën. Minimal beauty all round! Certainly if\nyou like Jóhann Jóhannsson… 9:45 pm -MAURO PAWLOWSKI   \nMauro Pawlowski will replace LAIS LENSKI\, who were\ninitially planned to perform at the FEEËRIEËN on WED 26\nAUGUST but\, due to the perils of pregnancy\, will not be\nable to appear. Instead\, Mauro Pawlowski will play one of\nhis seldom acoustic sets. No other performer has appeared in\nthe AB in so many different forms as Mauro. From regular\nbands like (the late) Evil Superstars\, dEUS\, Mauro &\nThe Grooms\, Mauro (in the days of 'Songs From A Bad\nHat')\, The Love Substitutes to Othin Spake or The\nParallels. He has also served as curator for the Carte\nBlanche weekend and he turned up on the AB-stage as\n'guest' musician too - with Kiss My Jazz\, the\nShadowgraphic City project - he even came here to bury his\nvery own Somnabula. But he hadn't yet visited the AB\nwith a completely acoustic set though. Mauro as songwriter\nat his best!
