DESCRIPTION:Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi plays one of\nhis rare solo concerts.Following previous visits earlier\nthis year by Jóhann Jóhannsson and Ryuichi Sakamoto &\nAlva Noto\, now it's the turn of pianist Ludovico\nEinaudi to appear in the brand new SILENCE IS SEXY series.\nIn it\, AB focuses on the so-called (new) contemporary\nclassical composers that are increasingly gaining popularity\nin the field of ‘pop music’. They are engaged in the\nworld of classical music but are often willing to have\nelectronica trickle through in their work\, often resulting\nin a unique sound. Italian composer and pianist Ludovico\nEinaudi is already a well-known phenomenon in foreign\ncountries. But in recent years this contemporary minimalist\nperformer has appeared increasingly often in Belgium\, and\nthey're always sold-out shows. Ludovico Einaudi began\nhis career with a number of compositions for orchestras and\nchamber ensembles that were soon performed at famous\nlocations like Teatro alla Scala\, The Queen Elisabeth Hall\nand The Center for Performing Arts in Los Angeles. As of the\neighties he explored new paths and permitted more emotion\ninto his music. World and pop music found their way into his\nwriter's existence and since then he also appears in the\nfootlights himself. Self-declared minimalist (he cites\nMichael Nyman and Philip Glass) who enjoys working with\nFrench (rock) musician Yann Tiersen just as much as Malinese\nkora player Ballake Sissoko. The points of contact between\nthe acoustic and the electronic often remind one of\nRadiohead's more experimental work.It's not without\nreason that the show is entitled ‘The Solo Concert’\, in\nAB Ludovico will perform alone.
