DESCRIPTION:Loudon Wainwright III\, alias LW3 (as stated on his\nwebsite). Finally returning to the AB for the first time\nsince May 2005. Not that this American singer-songwriter\nveteran has lost any of his power or has been sitting\nstill!? Quite the opposite: this is indestructible stand-up\nAmericana! Certainly with three fine albums out in the\nmeantime: 'Recovery' containing (forgotten)\nmasterpieces\, keenly re-recorded by Loudon and Joe Henry.\nThen there was 'High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie\nPoole Project'\, good for a 2009 Grammy for Best\nTraditional Folk Album and Charlie Poel (that's right)\nwrote of it in Humo: 'A tribute to the\nsinger/banjo-player. Wainwright returns to the best known\ntraditionals of Poole's oeuvre (who didn't write any\nmusic himself: check) and supplements them with\nespecially-written songs about the man's short but\nflamboyant life... The music is old-timey (banjo\,\nmandolin\, fiddle\, dobro\, cello\, acoustic guitar\, horns\nor an amplified bass now and then) but never\nold-fashioned.' Finally\, there is also the\nexceptionally entertaining '10 Songs For The New\nDepression' that Loudon himself splendidly promotes as\nfollows: 'As of this writing some folks are saying\nthings are looking up recession wise and this particular\nhard time might be ending. Other experts are saying we’re\nin for a "double-dip" and there’s more feces\nheading toward the national and global fans. If that’s the\ncase I’d like to cash in. So buddy if you can spare a few\nbucks\, please enjoy "10 Songs for the New\nDepression"! LW3 Jan. 2010.'Oh\, yes\, both Martha\nand Rufus can call him Pa. But every music-lover\,\nAnglophile\, German Philologist and ukulele-lover can come\ncherish Uncle Loudon too. A must-see for those who like\ntheir lyrics and music sharp-witted!By the way\, support act\nwill be Lucy Wainwright Roche and you read right: daughter\nof Loudon and Suzzy Roche\, apparently began her\nprofessional career as backing-vocalist for brother Rufus\,\nmeanwhile with two EPs out already: '8 Songs' and\n'8 More'\, now with a complete album too:\n'Lucy'. That's obvious.
