DESCRIPTION:09:30 pm Lonnie Holley    Lonnie Bradley Holley –\nsometimes also called The Sand Man - is an intriguing\npersonality. He was born in 1950 and would appear to have\nsuddenly found his momentum at the age of 63. At the same\ntime\, Holley is an all-round artist. Before he even started\na musical career\, he was focused on creating Afro-American\nsculptures that were mainly made with found objects. Those\naround him considered him to be an eccentric. But his work\ndid make it as far as the Smithsonian American Art Museum\,\nthe New York American Folk Art Museum and even into the\nWhite House.Holley’s musical aspirations took form in\n’12 when the famous Dust-To-Digital label released his\nfirst studio recordings under the title ‘Just Before\nMusic’. His musical sound is unique and entirely\nimprovised\, just like his ‘lyrics’. The artistic\nvanguard (with the likes of Bill Callahan\, Animal\nCollective and Deerhunter) immediately stood to welcome him\nwith open arms. In the meantime\, he has released a second\nalbum ‘Keeping a Record of it’ with imput from of the\nlikes of Deerhunter and Black Lips.    08:00 pm Mammane Sani\n   The evening with Lonnie Holley will now become a real\ndouble bill with the addition of Nigerian musician Mammane\nSani. Sani has been playing music for more than 30 years and\nis seen as a pioneer of West African electronic music\, and\nas one of the first African musicians to begin experimenting\nwith electronic sounds. His first - and also only album -\n‘La Musique Electronique du Niger’ - was recorded for\nnational radio in ’78 and released on cassette. In ’13 a\nre-issue of this album appeared via Sahel Sound and\nMississippi Records\, it was immediately acclaimed.\nComparisons with Terry Riley and Kraftwerk were legion.     \n
