Buy your tickets via www.botanique.be    Lambchop\n(usa) performing ‘is a woman’Lambchop are still our\nfavorite Nashville based alt.country ensemble\, focused\naround frontman Kurt Wagnern the man blessed with a\nheavenly\, mesmerizing voice. Rewind to the year 2000\, the\nstart of a new millennium. Lambchop had just released their\nfifth and breakthrough album ‘Nixon’\, which was spiced\nwith a decent dash of contemporary soul. Subsequently Wagner\ngave up his day job laying floors in order to pursue a full\ntime music career. The first result of this was ‘is a\nwoman’ (released in 2002) which Lambchop will be\nperforming in its entirety during Autumn Falls.Wagner on the\nmaking of ‘is a woman’: “We wanted to make a Lambchop\nrecord that focussed on the songs themselves\, the\n‘song’ meaning a voice representing the words and a\npiano providing the foundation for the music. Most of these\nsongs were written out in the back yard on a laptop that I\nborrowed from my father\, sitting under a mimosa tree.”\nNow\, we’re generally reluctant to quote from bands’\nbiographies but this one seemed to bear a great deal of\ntruth: “‘is a woman’ is an elegant\, luxurious and\nrefined album that mines rich seams of romance\, despair\,\nbeauty\, poetry and magic.” Duly noted. Good to know: on\nthe bonus cd of ‘is a woman’ you can find a stripped\ndown version of The Sisters Of Mercy classic ‘This\nCorrosion’. Suddenly Lambchop were even played on daytime\nradio. 2010 marked the tenth anniversary of Portland\,\nOregon’s Blitzen Trapper. Recently also\, the\nsix-piece’s fifth album ‘Destroyer Of The Void’ has\nbeen unveiled to the world. Contrary to what the sound of\ntheir name might imply Blitzen Trapper actually does deliver\nmesmerizing multi-harmony Americana. The influential webzine\nPitchfork put it this way: “Blitzen Trapper's version\nof Americana is one of the most melodic and playful since\n‘Being There’-era Wilco.” Another nice compliment from\nPitchfork perhaps? ”Unlike many of their contemporaries\ndoing the bearded-70s-folk-rocker thing\, Blitzen\nTrapper's influences lie less with hippie-ish CSNY or\nthe Grateful Dead and more with the rugged late-60s\nroots-rock of Bob Dylan and the Band.” Another thing that\nmakes you want to keep them even closer to your heart is the\nfact that Alela Diane is one of their guest vocalists on\ntheir last album.\n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/lambchop-blitzen-trapper/a105J000001wggfQAA
