SUMMARY:Jan De Smet & Arne Van Dongen
LOCATION:AB Salon - zittend (Steenstraat 11\, 1000 Brussels)
DESCRIPTION:& present Tickets & info via www.mim.fgov.be \nWoody Guthrie (1912-1967) is one of the most important folk\nsingers in the history of American music. He is considered\nto be the godfather of both Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.\nHis first recordings were made in New York under the\nwatchful eye of Alan Lomax. Guthrie was very socially\ninvolved and wrote more than a thousand songs\, also for\nvery young children. The clear translations by Frank Vander\nlinden (De Mens)\, the cheerful arrangements by Jan De Smet\n(De Nieuwe Snaar: accordion\, guitar\, dobro\, banjo\,\nukulele\, mouth organ…)\, and the swinging double bass of\nArne Van Dongen (from the likes of: Het Muziek Lod) make\nthis one irresistable show. ‘Woody finds a clear\nplay-situation for each song\, grows along the way and\nimmediately charms the audience of children. Good and\nsimple. But simply good.’ (De Standaard)‘Woody was a\ngood idea as it does three things all in one go: provides\nchildren with an unforgettable afternoon\, lets them make\nacquaintance with the best that the US has to offer –\nnamely its music tradition – and offers them an\nessential\, infectious children's production.’ (De\nMorgen)
