The Canadian and\nhis band ensure outright steam-roller songs\, no frills\, no\nfuss. Yet Jones still manages get his sledgehammer blows\ntighter than your average latex suit\, both live and on his\nalbums\, entirely in the tradition of bands like AC/DC\,\nMotörhead\, Black Sabbath\, Thin Lizzy and UFO.How does he\ndo it? How does he ensure that the songs that he writes hit\nthe nail on the head? The secrets of a tight live set and a\ngood song\, hopefully we find out in Huis 23. It is also so\nthat Danko Jones has been making music since 1996 and is\nstill working with the same DIY work ethic and with the same\nmusicians after 16 years. That is a minor miracle in itself\nin the current musical landscape.The ideal person to fish\nfor all Danko Jones' secrets? We found him in the form\nof Thomas Van Dingenen. As the singer of Bulls On Parade\n(still Europe's best Rage Against The Machine cover\nband) and top man of management- and booking-office Devil in\na Box sure knows what a good rock band should sound like.
