SUMMARY:Funeral Dress + The Kids + Belgian Asociality
LOCATION:AB Box (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:25 Years of Funeral Dress\, that's something to\ncelebrate. Because which Belgian band already has ten (10!)\nAmerican tours to its name and regularly performs in\nEurope's most prestigious venues (Paradiso Amsterdam\,\nAstoria London and soon in Moscow too)? You guessed it!\nTheir debut ‘Free Beer For The Punx’ (produced by UK\nSubs frontman Charlie Harper) is still a classic and\,\nalmost 1000 shows later\, the group has become one of the\nmost popular bands in its genre. In Belgium\, their big\nbreakthrough came in 2002\, when 'Party On' became a\nsummer hit on Studio Brussel and they successfully played\nalmost every festival. Funeral Dress was also to be seen and\nheard in 2 cinema films: 'Ex Drummer' based on the\nbook by Herman Brusselmans and the American documentary-film\n'Punks Not Dead the Movie’ (with the likes of Green\nDay\, My Chemical Romance\, Sex Pistols\, Ramones).2 of our\nbest punk bands will be there to celebrate this anniversary\ntoo\, namely THE KIDS and BELGIAN ASOCIALITY. The Kids\,\nfrom Antwerp\, were established in ’76. Frontman/singer\nLudo Mariman discovered his ideal means of expression in\npunk and – following the split in '86 – he left an\noeuvre of 5 albums and one live album (‘If The\nKids…’)\, which were released in a fine boxed\ncompilation called ‘Anthology’. Included was the album\n‘Living In The 20th Century’ that\, according to Gust De\nCoster\, is referred to as ‘the first rock LP in Belgium\nworth the name’. On their record also: the classic\n‘There Will Be No Next Time’. In ’96 - 20 years after\ntheir coming into being - The Kids got back together\, and\nin ’01 (a quarter century after originating) they recorded\ntheir explosive live CD ‘Flabbergasted!’ in our very own\nAB. Following a brilliant AB visit as part of our Rewind\nseries\, The Kids now return to Brussels again.Someone else\nwho has something to celebrate is Belgian Asociality. In\n2009 they extensively emphasized their 20 year existence\nwith a DVD and a new CD entitled ‘kaBAal’. ‘Bompa\nPunk’ was once a song by these punk-pioneers and now the\nasocial association is almost a bompa (grandfather) itself.\nNot that they care though. The Jupiler and the vodka still\nflow freely and the classics ‘Morregen’\,\n‘Boerderie’\, ‘Jupiler Reggae’ and ‘Het is\nGedaan’ still go off live as never before. \n \n \n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/funeral-dress-the-kids-belgian-asociality/a105J000001wgcbQAA
