The\ngreat instigator really is a certain Fitz (with striking\nblonde streak). The story goes that our pure-bred musician\nunexpectedly picked up an old organ for a bargain and\nimmediately started playing it at home. That resulted in one\ncatchy soul song after the other. Fitz had found his musical\nthing!So on debut CD 'Pickin' Up The Pieces'\n(via V2) there are heaps of infectious\, extremely danceable\nsongs\, all recorded in Fitz' home. Quite simply a must\nfor those who also get a kick out of classics by Motown\,\nStax\, Hall & Oates and\, why ever not\, Tom Jones!?\nAside from Fitz there are more starring roles reserved in\nthe swinging band for singer Noelle Scaggs\, John Wicks on\ndrums\, Joseph Karnes on bass\, James King on saxophone plus\nJeremy Ruzumna on keyboard (previously 'musical\ndirector' to Macy Gray!) And yup: no guitars\, that was\nanother well executed challenge. Fitz and the Tantrums have\nnow shared stages with Maroon 5 and Sharon Jones and the Dap\nKings. Now finally on their own in the ABClub!              \n
