Because Klara\nand AB want to celebrate the great enthusiasm with which\nLaika is made. Also because it was about time for a public\node to that black-white bastard terrier from outer space\,\nLaika's musical muse. It goes without saying that Laika\nfound an ally in AB\, a music temple that Klara knows likes\nsneak a peek at all sorts of music.AB is\, in turn\, a\nlong-time fan of the radio programme Laika on Klara. A\nprogramme that has now dispatched about 300 Sunday evenings\ninto the cosmic ether since '06\, andprovided the most\ndiverse musical adventures. Laika has the guts to seamlessly\ncombine Brian Eno\, Max Roach and Radiohead guitarist Jonny\nGreenwood in the same quarter of an hour. Respect!What's\nmore\, it's a programme with a mission: "Laika\npresents new stars in the Klara heavens\, blows the dust off\ngolden oldies you've never heard and allows you to feast\nupon music you have to have heard." Basically:\n'Laika is adventurous\, non-classical and gentle on your\nphysical health'. More than enough good reasons to\nconvert the entire AB into Laika headquarters on Saturday 26\nJanuary and have it bathe in the Laika vibe. A refined\nmusical programme was composed by presenter Lies Steppe and\nthe other Laika-compilers\, Philippe Cortens and Mauro\nPawlowski. Aside that programme\, an additional menu\ncontaining such things as short film screenings of Laika\nfavourites\, a true Q&A with the Laika team\, a book\nshop by The Wire and a vinyl shop with kosmische music.Be\nthere!With kosmische greetings\, Chantal Pattyn (Network\nChief) & Kurt Overbergh (Artistic Director AB)    Evil\nSuperstars (Cosmic Synth Set) (b)Mauro Pawlowski reunites\nhis fabulous Superstars especially for Laika. That\nhasn't happened since '04\, when they interpreted\n'Jerusalem'\, by stoner band Sleep\, in its entirety\nin AB. So not your average Evil Superstars - not that there\nhas ever been an average Evil Superstars - but certainly a\nset full of 'cosmic synthesizer music'.Fennesz\n(a)Austria's Christian Fennesz - who's already\nvisited the AB 3 times in the past - knows how to combine\ninnovative but refined electronica with a vibe-defining\nguitar style like no other. He's already worked with\nfolks\, and grandmasters\, like David Sylvian\, Mike Patton\nand Ryuichi Sakamoto.William Basinski (us)American avant\ngarde composer and sound artist who wrote electronica\nhistory with 'The Disintegration Loops I-IV'. His\nunique sound 'happened' to him while converting\nanalogue reel-to-reel tapes to digital files. The recordings\nfor 'The Disintegration …' were finalized during\n9/11 and the departed twin towers also adorn each volume in\nthis series. To honour the marking of 9/11 earlier this\nyear\, this work was performed by an orchestra in the\nMetropolitan Museum of Art in New York. What's more\,\nAntony (van Antony & The Johnsons) is a fan. Basinksi\nwas also to be heard\, together with Antony\, in the\nfabulous opera 'The Life and Death of Marina\nAbramovic' by Robert Wilson.Anthony Pateras\n(Aus)Australian pianist/composer with by now impressive\noeuvre that extends from minimal to noise. Pateras lives and\nworks in Brussels but tours worldwide. His work has appeared\non both the impressive electronica label Editions Mego as\nwell as on John Zorn's label Tzadik (!). At the moment\nhe's in the studio to record an album with none less\nthan Mike Patton. He's working on a new composition\nespecially for Laika.    Samara Lubelski (us)American\nviolist/singer Samara Lubelski has been active in New\nYork's avant-indie-folk scene for a while now. You could\ncall Sonic Youth her musical next-door neighbours. She's\na part of Thurston Moore's backing band\, she records\nalbums for his label Ecstatic Piece! and Sonic Youth drummer\nSteve Shelly is to be heard on her latest album\n'Wavelength'. Mittland Och Leo (b)Mittland Och Leo -\nSwedish for 'my land and lion' - is duo Joke Leonare\nDesmet and Milan Warmoeskerken from Antwerp. Described by\nDennis Tyfus (Ultra Eczema) as 'dreamteam casio\,\norgan\, echo duo and synth enthousiasts'. Cutting Edge\ninterprets it like this: "Hun muziek heeft iets weg van\nBeach House zonder gitaar en zang\, Peaking Lights zonder\nloodzware grondlaag aan dubbassen."
