DESCRIPTION:Things are going well\, sorry\, very well for Emiliana\nTorrini. Her latest album 'Me And Armini' was –\nmore than rightly so – heaped with highly commending\nreviews. Moreover\, she played at Rock Werchter this\nsummer\, she's adorned the number one spot in the\nFlemish Ultratop with ‘Jungle Drum’ and she's scored\na pure hat-trick in the AB by concerting on our stage three\ntimes in just one year. All that within a healthy growth\ncurve: from the intimate ABClub to the ABFlex to the\nAB's main hall .Icelandic resident of England\, Emiliana\nTorrini already stole our heart with her Rough Trade debut\n'Fisherman's Woman'. Apparently not only our\nheart either. Quite a while ago she won 3 awards in Iceland\nfor 'Female Singer of the Year'\, 'Pop Album of\nthe Year' and 'Video of the Year' (with that\nincredibly cute clip for her single 'Sunny Road').\nHer whispered\, intimate songs charm live too. Just recall\nher remarkable recent visit to the AB ("Wow it’s my\nstadium tour!") including funny patter between\nsongs.She debuted in '99 with the triphoppy 'Love In\nThe Time Of Science' (with Tears For Fears-man Roland\nOrzabal behind the dials). These day her world lies closer\nto that of Nick Drake or Feist rather than\, say\,\nPortishead. Also worth mentioning: Torrini wrote\n'Gollum's Song' for Lord Of The Rings – at the\nrequest of director Peter Jackson himself -\, could already\nbe heard in the TV series 'Grey's Anatomy'\,\nwrote for (and toured with) Thievery Corporation\, an\nactually provided Kylie Minogue with a number one hit by\nwriting 'Slow' for her.Won't you just stay and\nlive here\, dear Emiliana?    Opener will be Lay Low from\nIceland. Emiliana would seem to be a fan of the lady\, as\nshe also took her on tour through Europe this spring. Lay\nLow is\, as always\, the alter-ego of Lovísa Elísabet\nSigrúnardóttir and she sounds extremely credible as\nIcelandic blues-chanteuse... Or rather: like fellow\ncountryman Mugison often also knows how to get his teeth\ninto blues and country.
