SUMMARY:Edwyn Collins
LOCATION:AB Club - staand (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:In 1983 you could find the song ‘Rip It Up’ by the band\nOrange Juice in the British charts. The extremely young\nsinger - who would begin a solo-career soon after - was\ncalled Edwyn Collins. He provided humanity with the\nworld-song ‘A Girl Like You’ but that's already from\n1994 ago. Exactly 11 years later\, Collins had two brain\nhaemorrhages and since then he's gradually been working\nhis way back into the life of a musician again. That\nculminated in the just recently released seventh solo-album\n‘Losing Sleep’ for which he could count on the\nassistance of songwriter friends like Ryan Jarman (The\nCribs)\, Alex Kapranos & Nick McCarthy (Franz\nFerdinand)\, Johnny Marr (The Smiths)\, Romeo Stodart (The\nMagic Numbers)\, Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera) and The\nDrums.‘… unadorned and impelling … a beacon of\nmiraculous recovery’. (Focus Knack) ‘… one of the best\nfrom his richly filled career …’ (HUMO ***½) The\nKinbeats are the 3 brothers Arthur\, Patrick and Paul\,\ncompleted by their cousin Bart. This quartet from London\nshares a love of classic songwriting\, heavenly vocals and\nbands like The Beatles\, The Kinks and The Beach Boys. \n
