Frontman/singer Ian McCulloch –\nmodest as ever – about this: “It would be a masterclass\nfor anyone who's ever been in a band that isn't\nquite as good as the band I'm in" (sic).Echo &\nThe Bunnymen play ‘Crocodiles’ (1980)‘Crocodiles’ -\ncanned in barely three weeks - is Echo & The\nBunnymen's debut album and it has now crossed counters\nmore than 100\,000 times to date. Rolling Stone gave the\nalbum a **** review at the time. NME block-lettered back\nthen: “probably the best album this year by a British\nband". There were two singles drawn from the album:\n(their debut single) ‘The Pictures on My Wall’ and the\nclassic ‘Rescue’. It landed in Uncut's ‘100 most\nimpressive debut albums’ chart in '06. When the album\nwas re-released in ’04\, the influential Pitchfork praised\nthem with high honours (8.2 out of 10).Trivia: in ‘01\nAmerican singer-songwriter Kelley Stoltz released the album\n‘Crock O Dials’\, a complete make over of\n‘Crocodiles’ . Echo & The Bunnymen play ‘Heaven Up\nHere’ (1981)‘Heaven Up Here’ is the second album by\nEcho & The Bunnymen\, released in 1981. It was the first\nalbum by the band to make it into the Top 10 in their\nhomeland and it also provided them with their breakthrough\nin America. Mojo threw a ***** review at it and Q\ncongratulated the album with ****. NME described the album\nas "one of the most superior articulations of\n'rock' form in living memory." The album\naccommodated two singles: ‘A Promise’ and ‘Over the\nWall’. Rolling Stone later placed it in their ‘500\nGreatest Albums of All Time’ chart.
