SUMMARY:Dinosaur Jr. + Built to Spill
LOCATION:AB Grote zaal (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:We need to inform you that Murph had to leave the tour to\nattend to personal matters. Kyle Spence will be drumming\ninstead. Kyle most recently played with Dinosaur in Canada.\nHe also plays in The Fog and Harvey Milk. American\nguitar-band Dinosaur Jr. released quite simply their best\nalbum in ages: ‘Farm’. The press were mad about it\,\nthey struck a new young fan-base\, and the chemistry of the\noriginal line-up with J. Mascis\, Lou Barlow (recently in\nfine form solo during 10 Years of Duyster) and drummer Murph\nonce again soars new heights. Their concert at Pukkelpop\n2009 got a bit lost in the gusty wind but on Monday 24 May\nthey can make up for that in your very own AB.Built To Spill\npampered their Belgian fans in the AB in October 2008. In\nthe meantime their new\, seventh\, and also masterful\n‘There Is No Enemy’ has been released on the All\nTomorrow’s Parties label. An album that fits perfectly in\ntheir row of excellent albums such as 'Perfect From Now\nOn' and 'Keep It Like A Secret'.Together with\nSonic Youth\, Dinosaur Jr. is without a doubt the most\ninfluential band of the underground/independent guitar-rock\nscene. Their first three albums were re-released in 2005:\n'Dinosaur'\, 'You're Living All Over Me'\nand 'Bug'\, on which you can make out the catchiest\npop\, under an enormous layer of fuzz and noise. Following\ntheir musical heyday at the end of the 80's\, the guys\ndidn't get along any longer and they each went their own\nway. Their respective solo careers were marked by ups and\ndowns. So it was that bassist Lou Barlow went through life\nas a chameleon: Sebadoh\, Sentridoh\, The Folk Implosion and\nlater The New Folk Implosion. American indie-band Built To\nSpill have been releasing albums since 1992 but they rarely\ncome to Europe. The band combines tight yet melodic\nguitar-pop with strong and often politically coloured\nlyrics. Quite simply one of the best kept American\nunderground grunge/indie secrets. The band is considered by\nmany to be a cornerstone of the American indie scene\, with\nglowing references to - there you have them again - Dinosaur\nJr.\, Pavement\, Modest Mouse\, Death Cab For Cutie and Neil\nYoung & Crazy Horse. \n
