SUMMARY:de portables + Babils + Comfort + aMute
LOCATION:AB Club - staand (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Bruxelles)
DESCRIPTION:Brussels' Stilll label (indeed 3 x l!) was\nestablished in 2004 by Jérome Deuson (aka aMute) and Alain\nLefebre. Their noble (in these times) goal: ‘simply’\nreleasing music that they like to hear. Stilll has meanwhile\nreleased about 15 albums including those of aMUTE\, de\nportables\, Arden (the first release and also Jérôme\nDeuson's band)\, A Perfect Friend\,... all finely\ndesigned by Deuson. Stilll offshoot Off – established in\n’07 – is inspired by Alain Lefebre and focuses on\navant-rock\, experimental jazz and new classical music. The\nlabel already possesses about ten releases\, all finely\ndesigned by Kiekebiche (or rather: Bruno Jacqmain). 7:00\npm SOUNDTRACK BY… STILLL/OFF DJ’s 8:00 pm\nCOMFORTItalian trio Comfort guarantee instrumental rock with\na subtle jazz sound laced with electronica. Their second\nalbum ‘Sleep Talking Shared’ will soon be released via\nOff.The band also often engages in manifold musical projects\naside from their own work. So it was that they contributed\nto a King Crimson project and made a soundtrack for\nBuñuel's famous cult film ‘Un Chien Andalou’. Also:\nready for some research work? You have to interpret the\nband's name considerably contradictorily\, like in the\n‘Theory of Harmony’ from composer Arnold Schoenberg. Let\nthe googling begin.9:00 pm BABILSBrussels' quintet\nBabils arose from the duo The Joint Between (also the title\nof Babils’ debut)\, who dealt in hypnotic grooves\, primal\nsong and shrieking trumpets. They create an entirely own\nuniverse with their blend of industrial electronica and\nnoise. We read somewhere: "Babils’ music sounds like\nleftover scraps from the Can discography and all those\nJapanese psych bands". You certainly don't have to\nlook long for the link with the Japanese psychedelica annex\nacid-rock of Acid Mothers Temple…10:00 pm de portablesIf\nit was up to us\, then de portables would have broken\nthrough long ago… Stronger still: we reckon their album\n‘Girls Beware!’ belongs to the unknown best of what\nBelgium has ever produced. This collective from Ghent has\nbeen around for more than ten years\, is as stubborn as an\nmule\, ultra-active\, but too lazy (sorry Portables\,\nwe're just trying to give you a push in the right\ndirection) to present their gems to the outside world. De\nMorgen in a four-star review of their most recent album:\n"Following classics like ‘Rosegarden’ and ‘Girls\nBeware!’ de portables still couple exciting guitar music\nwith inventive electronica.". That quintet (yup\,\nhumour is their fifth band-member) – still with Jurgen\n‘Kôhn’ de Blonde – has already visited the AB twice.\nThis third time is only a modest start. 11:00 pm aMUTEWhat\nwould life be without surprises? Too comfortable. Now we\nwouldn't want to infringe upon Arnold Schoenberg's\n‘Theory Of Comfort’ ... The headliner of this Stilll/Off\nlabel night shall be announced in the course of the month\nMarch. One thing is certain: this (a)SURPRISE aCT is\ndefinitely directly linked to Stilll/Off.\n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/de-portables-babils-comfort-amute/a105J000001wgYqQAI
