DESCRIPTION:GROTE MARKT BRUSSELS (7:45 pm – 11:00 pm)This celebration\nwants to be the celebration of the year for our community\,\nan evening that everyone eagerly\, dressed their best\,\nlooks forward to. The concluding celebration of the feast\nday of the Flemish Community at the Grote Markt in Brussels\nwill be a musical tour de force. The AB wants to shape this\napotheosis using its famous expertise and its fine nose for\nwhat's happening musically in Flanders. Moreover\, it\nwants to transcend Flemishness and do what we're good\nat\, together: making music\, singing and partying. We have\ngreat ambitions: this year we'll be making a serious\nattempt to furnish this apotheosis with more depth and\nstyle. The goal is to give every spectator\, at the Grote\nMarkt or via the live-broadcast on één\, a party to\nremember afterwards with genuine pride.    KLEI (7:45 pm –\n8:15 pm) A very exceptional prélude in which the\ncharacteristics that are so typical to our culture are\nsubtly magnified\, verbalized and set to music. For this\ncomposition and performance we've appealed to Gerry De\nMol. He shall surround himself with a fine assortment of\nmusicians. This performance will be visually supported by\nthe Portret van Vlaanderen\, a life-sized photo-composition\ncontaining portraits of Flemish people or places in\nFlanders.    THE AB SUPER STAR SHOW (8:45 pm – 10:40\npm)The closing concert will be an apotheosis with a plenty\nof style and a proud allure\, after all it is the party of\nthe year for the Flemish Community. For that reason\, no\ncost or effort will be spared in order to make this musical\nhighlight a gem. The performers we've chosen for the\noccasion are: Gabriel Rios\, Paul Michiels\, Leki and The\nSweet Mints\, Stan Van Samang\, Yevgueni\, Guido Belcanto\,\nSioen\, Mira\, Lady Linn and Alex Roeka. They will appear in\ngrandeur. The whole affair will exude an atmosphere of\npride\, glamour and respect. An evening with class\,\npresented in style.This concert's story will be shaped\nby Kobe Proesmans (El Tattoo del Tigre and Gabriel Rios).\nThe band\, a rhythm section\, expanded into a massive\nbig-band with extra festive horns\, will be led by Bert\nGielen. We'll be counting on Peter Van de Veire as\nmaître de cérémonie.    GREAT MUSIC IN THE INNER CITY\n(12:30 pm – 7:00 pm)In the eyes of the Ancienne Belgique\,\nthe Flemish feast day is more than just a happening in the\nevening. Music must and shall be made the entire day long!\nThe city-party kicks off in the afternoon with ‘t Groot\nMuziek. The inner-city is then one big musical party\, with\nthe whole afternoon long free performances\, a musical\ncontest\, brass-bands\, musical street-theatre and\nchildren's programmes. The ideal way to discover\nBrussels\, on a musical walking-tour! The best\nnon-professional musicians from local soil will occupy all\nsorts of enjoyable locations in the centre of Brussels\, for\nthe entire afternoon. From the Spanjeplein\, along the\nGrasmarkt\, via the Sint-Katelijneplein\, to the\nDansaertstraat\, to the Steenstraat Music Street and much\nmuch further! Those arriving by train will be greeted at\nCentral Station by the festive sounds rising from the\nSpanjeplein. That is where Het Groot Orkest will take\nplace\, a concept in which the best fanfares\, brass-bands\nand orchestras from each Flemish province receive a spot on\nthe bandstand. Het Groot Orkest is a collaboration between\nAB\, Het Nieuwsblad and Vlamo (Flemish Amateur Music\nOrganisation). From the Spanjeplein you will guided by a\ncolourful procession of mobile street-theatre acts that will\nget the musical discovery tour started. Between 12:30 pm and\n7:00 pm\, acoustic ensembles\, soloists\, bands and\nsinger-songwriters will be accommodated in countless shops\,\ncafés\, churches\, galleries and other pleasant places. So\nthe best young musicians receive the opportunity to play for\na wide audience and in unique locations\, like shop\nwindows\, the Brussels Parliament and the Goede Bijstands\nChurch. It will be a party across all musical boundaries\,\nfrom rock in the AB Café\, to jazz in the Archiduc to\nclassical in the Kartell. A special programme for children\nwill be provided in the courtyard of community centre De\nMarkten\, at the Oude Graanmarkt. At 3:00 pm\, a unique rock\ncontest will commence at the Sint-Katelijneplein: Het Groot\nGeweld. Poppunt\, FM Brussel and AB give twenty bands or\nsingers the chance to play their ‘Biggest Hit’ and so\ncompete for first prize.
