SUMMARY:Briskey + Jacaszek
LOCATION:AB Salon - zittend (Steenstraat 11\, 1000 Brussels)
DESCRIPTION:7:00 pm - SOUNDTRACK BY… bl13pdj 8:30 pm - JACASZEK\n(Poland)Exquisitely enchanting music! We first came into\ncontact with Jacaszek from Poland through the album\n‘Treny’ (from ’08) that blew our way\, an absolute gem\nreleased via the Norwegian label Miashmah. Influential\nwebzine Boomkat got everyone keen with the following\ndescription: “Arvo Part\, the soundtracks for Kieslowski\nmovies\, Deaf Center\, Max Richter\, Erik Satie\, … - if\nyou are familiar and in awe of any or all of these names\nthen this album will no doubt end up on your essential\nlistening pile for the foreseeable future.” JACASZEK is in\nfact Michael Jacaszek\, producer and maker of\nelectro-acoustic music. The result? Pure beauty. Or:\nheart-stopping electronica supplemented by cello and violin.\nIn the meantime there is already another new album:\n‘Pentral’ was recorded in a number of gothic churches in\nGdansk that makes the sound come across more strongly. But\nit remains exquisite music. Now isn't it just that kind\nof music that is appropriate for the Feeërieën? 9:45 pm -\nBRISKEY (b)“It strikes one as a cosmopolitan night album\nthat calls up images of wet-rained streets and obsessional\ndesires.” (De Morgen)“The album is constantly intriguing\nas a listen-trip.” (De Standaard) The third studio-album\nfrom Ghent's Briskey\, ‘Before – During –\nAfter’\, was released earlier this year. Right away\nBriskey’s most adventurous and personal album to date.\nFewer beats than in the past\, but with a particularly\nsultry night-time character and a sturdy jazz disposition.\nThe Cinematic Orchestra is not far off. Briskey is\, as\nalways\, the project of musical glutton Gert Keunen\, who\nwas also able to convince Lady Linn to sing along on the\nalbum. AB and Briskey are certainly no strangers to each\nother either… So it was that last year the live record\n‘Live At The Ancienne Belgique’ was released by Briskey\nBig Band (as which they even appeared at Jazz Middelheim in\n’07)\, at the time opener to (there they are again) The\nCinematic Orchestra. Their versatility is their virtue. It\npresents no problem for Briskey to appear in clubs like\n4AD\, at the famous Ghent Jazz and also in art centres like\nthe Stuk in Leuven... and now lovely too as closer for the\nFeeërieën ’09! With an appropriate\, rather minimal set.\n Jacaszek - Tance Treny \n Briskey - Le désir de l'autre
