DESCRIPTION:ƚBM (INSPIRED BY BLACK METAL)    ƚBM focuses on the\ninfluence of black metal anno 2014 and is a response to the\ncurrent prevalence of the genre. Not coincidentally 30 years\nafter the establishment of legendary Norwegian black metal\nband Mayhem. Nor coincidentally 20 years after the release\nof their debut ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’ - one of the\nmost influential black metal albums ever.           \nCHRISTOPHE SZPAJDEL    EXPO as from friday 11 APRIL > AB\nResto > freeLECTURE saturday 3 may > AB Resto >\n5:30 pm > free    Of Polish origin\, living in Exeter\n(UK)\, but born in Belgium. In the ’80s\, Christophe\nSzpajdel became fascinated with the logos of bands like\nVenom\, Possessed and Kreator. A few years later\, he\nstarted designing himself – for bands he knew – and so\nthat was how\, in the early ’90s\, he came into contact\nwith a number of main players from the 2nd wave of black\nmetal. Soon he was designing logos for most of those bands\nand had become a well-known figure in the metal underground.\nFast Forward to 2010. After Christophe had spent many years\nproviding many thousands of bands with a unique logo\,\nGerman publisher Gestalten (known for its very fine\npublications on design\, art and architecture) put out Lord\nOf The Logo’s. It is a book bundling a few thousand of\nSzpajdel’s logos and it gives a fine overview of his\noeuvre. Yet again\, the multiplicity of his work is\nremarkable and we can clearly see influences of Art\nNouveau\, Gothic\, nature (Szpajdel studied biology and\nforest management)\, eastern culture\,…As of April 11\, in\nthe AB Resto\, you can come admire an extensive selection by\na unique figure in metal design of recent decades. On May\n3\, Christophe Szpajdel will come give more explanation\nabout his work methods\, artwork and contacts with the\nartists.
