Having\nmade waves on Sound Track and De Nieuwe Lichting\, Oriana is\nquickly cementing her place as one of Belgium’s most\nexciting emerging voices.Pamela EvbuomwanA music media and\ndiversity advocate\, Pamela is actively working within\nFlemish public service media to create more inclusive\nplatforms that highlight Belgium’s immense talent. With a\nbackground in festival communications\, concert\nprogramming\, and cultural inclusion\, she brings a keen\ninsight into the ways Black artists can navigate and shape\nthe evolving music industry.Renaldi DiomboCreative\nconsultant\, social media strategist\, and co-founder of\nBLCKLB agency\, Renaldi has over six years of experience in\ncopywriting\, PR\, and digital branding. She has worked with\nnames like Bomboclat Festival\, Dour Festival\, Coely\,\nGR€Y\, and Morane Miangue\, helping artists and creatives\nsharpen their public presence. Passionate about empowering\nunderrepresented voices\, she equips artists with the tools\nto master their own narrative and brand identity.Shaka\nShamsShaka Shams is a Belgian-South African rapper\,\nproducer\, and visual artist who blends hip-hop\, drum and\nbass\, house\, and soul into a genre-defying sound. Growing\nup between Antwerp\, the UK\, and South Africa\, he shaped\nhis unique artistic voice from a young age\, inspired by\nicons like Nas\, André 3000\, and Erykah Badu. With a\nnostalgic yet futuristic flow\, Shaka won De Nieuwe Lichting\n2022\, landed sync placements in RTBF’s Fils De and\nGoPlay’s Hacked series\, and became a rising force in\nBelgium’s rap scene. His Action Only EP series documents\nhis artistic evolution\, proving that Shaka is only getting\nstarted.Closing DJ-Set:JLM b2b AgneskenaWhether as a\nphotographer or a DJ\, Agneskena wants to tell a story and\nreach people’s hearts. Her music selection is a reflection\nof her own world and inspirations. It is a balanced blend of\nenergetic and seductive sounds that she juggles with during\nher sets. Her aim is to make you forget time for a brief\nmoment. As founder of Alaiz\, JLM embarked on a new\nadventure and decided to hop behind the decks to share an\neclectic musical experience with her listeners. From\nafrohouse &amp; afrotech to biama &amp; shatta. She uses her\nlove for music\, from all over the African diaspora\, to\ncreate a musical escape for your soul and body to\nenjoy.Black History Month Belgium 2025: &quot;B(l)ack to Our\nRoots&quot;This year’s multidisciplinary socio-cultural\nfestival by Black History Month Belgium embraces a theme\nlayered with meaning: &quot;B(l)ack to Our Roots.&quot; The\nphrase is a conscious play on words\, symbolising a strong\ndesire to return to the festival&#39;s foundational purpose\nfor Black communities— a celebration of heritage\,\nidentity\, diversity\, and creativity. It also invites a\nthoughtful exploration of ancestral legacies\, cultural\nhistories\, and the wisdom passed down through\ngenerations.For Black people in the Diaspora\, returning to\nour roots is not just identity seeking\, it is also\nmeaning-making and a continuous journey of (re)discovery\,\nwhich will be the unifying thread of this BHMB 2025 edition.\nExpect meaningful community conversations that will dive\ninto the heart of pressing issues impacting our daily\nlives\, alongside joyful gatherings celebrating creativity\nthrough live shows\, performances\, film screenings\, and\nexhibitions. Recognising the importance of rest and\nhealing\, the 2025 programme will also offer dedicated\nmoments throughout the month to help the community recharge\nand reconnect.Black History Month Belgium not only\ncelebrates the rich diversity of Black communities in the\nBelgian context but also highlights the different migration\njourneys that unite them. Honouring the cultures connected\nto ancestral roots goes hand in hand with fostering\nsolidarity. As such\, the 2025 edition also seeks to inspire\nawareness and support for those still facing hardships in\nplaces like the Congo\, Sudan\, and beyond. The festival\ninvites attendees to reflect\, connect\, and engage in\nmeaningful global solidarity.
