SUMMARY:Bedroom Community feat. : Valgeir Sigurdsson + Nico Muhly +
Ben Frost + Sam Amidon + guests
LOCATION:AB Theater (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Bruxelles)
DESCRIPTION:For the first time in Europe\, in 2007 the AB brought the\nIcelandic BEDROOM COMMUNITY collective to Belgium (during\nDomino) and The Netherlands (for Motel Mozaique). The\nresult: the revelation of a beautiful\, musically\nlike-minded – but\, individually\, considerably varied –\nfamily that crosses borders both musically and\nterritorially. The label was established in 2006 and now has\n5 releases\, which rest musically at the meeting point of\nsongwriter-ship\, classical music and electronica. AB has\nbeen following since the start and invites them back time\nand time again. However\, for the first time\, AB now\npresents the musical family in its entirety\, with a\nprogramme containing: Valgeir Sigurdsson (Icel.) - Producer\nand musician VALGEIR SIGURÐSSON has helped considerably to\nestablish the Icelandic music scene over past decades.\nHe's been running his now renowned Greenhouse Studios\nsince ’97 and has recorded fine albums from the likes of\nBjörk\, Sigur Rós\, Múm\, CocoRosie and Bonnie\n‘Prince’ Billy there. His impressive and loudly\nacclaimed debut: ‘Ekvílibríum’.Ben Frost (Aus.) - BEN\nFROST lives in Iceland\, but was born in Australia. He works\nclosely with V. Sigurðsson\, has previously written for\nfilm and dance productions. On Bedroom Community he released\n‘Theory Of Machines’. An album that flirts with the\nelectronica of Fennesz but also\, say\, the industrial\naspects of The Swans. ‘By The Throat’ is soon to be\nreleased\, with collaboration from the likes of Amiina\,\nJeremy Gara (The Arcade Fire)\, Nico Muhly and Swedish metal\nband Crowpath.Nico Muhly (US) - American pianist/composer\nNico Muhly has previously worked with Antony and the\nJohnsons (including ‘The Crying Light’) and Philip\nGlass. He could be heard on Björk's ‘Medúlla’ and\nhelped her to arrange the score for Matthew Barney’s film\n‘Drawing Restraint 9’. He also arranged the strings on\n‘The Letting Go’ by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. Two\nalbums have already been released on Bedroom Community:\n‘Speaks Volumes’ and ‘Mothertongue’. Recent release\nwas his soundtrack for ‘The Reader’\, with Kate Winslet\nin the lead.Sam Amidon (US) - Rolling Stone Magazine once\nwrote these fine words about troubadour Sam Amidon: "In\nan era of overheated Nick Drake comparisons\, Amidon is\neerily close to the reel thing\, singing in a fragile but\ncertain tenor against the deep breath and soft sweep of Nico\nMuhly’s orchestrations." This ‘man with the\nbanjo’ was already convincing with his BC-release ‘All\nIs Well’. Once you've seen the man live\, you're\ncertain to be sold. Ben Frost\n- ‘Black’ Nico Muhly –\n'It Goes Without Saying'\n\nhttps://www.abconcerts.be/en/agenda/bedroom-community-feat-valgeir-sigurdsson-nico-muhly-ben-frost-sam-amidon-guests/a105J000001wgc7QAA
