SUMMARY:Baroness
LOCATION:AB Club - staand (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:‘Blue Record’ heralds a new tour for American band\nBaroness. Their debut ‘The Red Album’ was already\nrenamed Album Of The Year 2007 by leading heavy metal\nmagazine Revolver. But the ‘Blue Record’ is already a\nclassic-in-the-making too\, with its layered structure and\nadventurous arrangements. Riffs and melodies meet in\nBaroness's world\, and where captured on tape by\nproducer John Congleton (Explosions In The Sky\, Black\nMountain). From southern rock to sludge-metal but just as\neasily from The Mars Volta to Thin Lizzy\, interwoven with\nthe dissonance of a Fugazi. ‘Blue Record’ also allows\nyou hear a richer band than in the past\, in songs like\n‘Steel That Sleeps The Eye’ you can even recognize\npieces of Moody Blues and Fleet Foxes. Leaving Decibel\nmagazine (America's first real extreme music magazine)\nto conclude: ‘How they made what may be the album of the\nyear’. The trio Drums Are For Parades hail from Ghent\nand deal in the dirtiest sort of noise-rock. But with class\n...and an eye for detail – see: their finely released (and\nnow sold-out) 10 inch bearing the poetic title\n'Artificial Sacrificial Darkness in The Temple of The\nDamned'. This EP was – remarkably enough – produced\nby Niek Meul from Das Pop and was released via the Skeleton\nEars label. More still\, the band also appealed to Niek Meul\nand Reinhard Vanbergen (both of Das Pop) as producers for\ntheir debut . They'll be heading into the studio soon\nbut first the band will be road-testing a whole heap of\ntheir new material on the Baroness evening. \n
