DESCRIPTION:The band surrounding Maarten Devoldere and Jinte Deprez\nmanaged to instantly settle itself in the upper regions of\npatriotic pop pride with ‘Applause’\, the Balthazar\ndebut released earlier this year. The album was praised\nnationally and internationally: 'Marbled from top to toe\nwith lingering\, almost nonchalant song lyrics that rhyme\nremarkably well with the tight\, minimalistic grooves that\nprop them up' (Humo). Moreover\, singles like ‘Fifteen\nFloors’\, ‘Hunger At The Door’ and the recent\n‘I’ll Stay Here’ have done well on all radio stations.\nVenues like Depot Leuven and Vooruit Gent could fish out\ntheir sold-out signs this fall\, after the band's\nwhirlwind visit to an overheated Rock Werchter Marquee\n('an insanely impressive concert’ - De Morgen) and all\nthe other important summer festivals (Pukkelpop! Dour!\nCactus! Lowlands!). In early 2011 Balthazar is going for the\nforeign fanbase\, with their own tour but also as\nsupport-act to dEUS. On Sunday 24 April the band returns to\nBelgium and plays a concert in the Main Hall of the\nAB.Balthazar's mature songwriting and explosive stage\npresence have been their most important characteristics from\nthe start and so they won a whole series of talent searches\nwith the audience prize at HUMO’s Rock Rally 2006 to top\nit all off. Their debut singles ‘This Is A Flirt’ and\n‘Bathroom Lovin’ Situations’ also displayed the\ncharacteristics of a great band in the making. Were later\ntaken under the wing of Raymond van het Groenewoud in\nPoppunt's ‘Raymond and his young heroes' and by\nFlip Kowlier for the Poulains on StuBru. Debut\n‘Applause’ also met all expectations with ease.   \nSupport act will be the Germans BEAT! BEAT! BEAT!. This\nfoursome is currently conquering Europe with their\nadventurous pop. Thanks to debut ‘Lightmares’ they can\nput up 'sold out' signs at all the clubs in their\nhomeland\, and to that tour they now add this support act\nfor Balthazar in the AB.
