SUMMARY:Arquettes
LOCATION:AB Club - staand (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:Arquettes gave a taster of what we can expect from their\ndebut album at Boomtown: angular songs in which awkward\nelectro grooves\, bittersweet singing and hefty rock guitar\nshare the bed. ‘Wave On’ will be in the shops on 13\nSeptember. They will officially present it on 29 October in\nthe ABclub. Arquettes first appeared in late 2007 when they\nbrought out their self-released EP containing "It’s A\nRelief" and "Feehler" which were modest radio\nhits. Their new material enticed international producer\nStéphane "Alf" Briat (Air\, Phoenix\, Etienne De\nCrecy\, Alex Gopher etc.) to work with them earlier this\nyear. In March 2010 the band headed for Paris to record the\nalbum in the legendary La Frette studios (Feist\, Patrick\nWatson). Following their performance at Boomtown an\nIndiestyle journalist wrote: "after half an hour of\nArquettes you remember exactly why you once lost your heart\nto the wonderful world of music." De Standaard also\nasked: "Will this band follow in the footsteps of Team\nWilliam?" The Man Up North is a furiously rocking\nfivesome from Leuven. The band shot out of the starting\nblocks only a year ago and soon managed to win over Studio\nBrussel. In mid-May the StuBru broadcasters crowned The Man\nUp North week-winner of VI.BE On Air. Their catchy riffs and\nedgy lyrics earned the band a week's airplay in Select.\nThe newly formed band lived up to these first words of\npraise in a live show at Leuven's STUK. With an\nenergetic and surprising set\, The Man Up North made a good\nimpression... also upon the organisers of Bruksellive. So it\ncame that the five were invited to open the Bruksellive\nfestival on 31 July. The crew from Leuven erected an\nexciting wall of sound in the idyllic Groentheater\, whereby\natmospheric intros effortlessly led to overwhelming highs.\nOn 29 October The Man Up North will be the support act to\nArquettes in the Ancienne Belgique\, as part of the\nCoca-Cola Sessions. Coca-Cola Sessions? Our refreshing\nstructural partner mentioned in the name has arranged 9\nextra Club concerts from the '09-'10 season on to\nsupport young national and international talent\, and before\nan attractive\, young crowd. We wrote in the first press\nrelease: ‘Will we discover the artist today who\, in a few\nyears\, will bring Herman Schueremans’ garden party to a\nclose’? That paragraph turned out to be visionary\, as\nboth Balthazar and Customs were on the Rock Werchter stage\nthis summer. We present a new\, much-talked about series of\nthe Coca-Cola Sessions with Arquettes and The Tellers.\nWith\, from this season on\, reports which can be seen on\nABtv and Moodio.tv. \n
