SUMMARY:Arid
LOCATION:AB Grote zaal (Anspachlaan 110\, 1000 Brussel)
DESCRIPTION:February 2010: Arid's fourth studio album - entitled\n‘Under The Cold Street Lights’ - was released and\nlaunched to the general public at 2 sold out ABconcerts. The\nband based around singer Jasper Steverlinck recorded a live\nDVD during those concerts and it will be in stores as of mid\nFebruary 2011. To emphasise the fact\, Arid will be playing\nan exclusive ABconcert on Saturday 19 February. In the\nmeantime you can make acquaintance with the 2 singles from\nthe aforementioned album via radio waves. After their Rock\nRally final in 1996 (the grand crû year with Novastar\, Tom\nHelsen and An Pierlé)\, Arid was quite rightly offered a\nrecord deal. Their debut ‘Little Things Of Venom’ was\nreleased in 2000 with the assistance of Piet Goddaer (Ozark\nHenry) and David Dewaele (Soulwax). The singles ‘Life’\nand ‘Believer’ immediately brought the band to the\nattention of the general public. Successor ‘All Is Quiet\nNow’ was released in 2002\, with hit singles ‘You Are’\nand ‘Everlasting Change’\, but that very same year\nsinger Jasper Steverlinck went solo and scored a huge hit\nwith his version of ‘Life On Mars'\, with thanks to\nDavid Bowie for the original song and the Kolacny brothers\nfor the packaging. His debut solo album ‘Songs Of\nInnocence’ was a big success too. In 2008 Arid confirmed\nits status once again\, with the album ‘All Things Come In\nWaves’ on which the singles ‘Why Do You Run’ And\n‘Tied To The Hands’ are to be found. Wallonia also\nfinally fell for their exceptional pop-rock and so Jasper\n& Co can now also count on innumerable fans below the\nlanguage-border. Belgium's Transcoder can draw upon\nmore than 40 years of rock history and so are quite\ndifficult to peg. The attentive listener will hear\ninfluences of The Stooges\, Sonic Youth\, Joy Division ...\nblues-rock\, garage-rock\, punk\, new-wave\, grunge\, each\ninfluence finding its place in the Transcoder sound in an\nextremely organic manner. The current line-up is: Jan Van\nAcker (vocals)\, Philip Verbrugge (bass)\, Francis Isebaert\n(guitar)\, Maarten Baert (drums).
