DESCRIPTION:Silence Is Sexy focuses upon contemporary classical\ncomposers who have been making a solid name for themselves\nin the field of 'pop music' over recent years. They\nmove in the world of classical music but don't feel\nthemselves 'too good' to have electronica seep\nthrough into their music\, often resulting in a unique\nsound.AB welcomed the likes of Ludovico Einaudi\, Jóhann\nJóhannsson and the collaborative project of Alva Noto &\nRyuichi Sakamoto to previous editions. This latest edition\nthrows a light on two labels who have been the invisible\nmotor behind this movement for years: Berlin's Erased\nTapes and England's 130701. Erased TapesErased Tapes has\nbeen around since ’07 and is led from out of Berlin by\nfounder Robert Raths. Even though his label also contains\npost-rock and IDM\, modern classic makes up the majority of\ntheir content. Webzine Drowned In Sound described the label\nas “Pure sonic perfection”. Aside from the young\nIcelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds you can also find\nmulti-instrumentalist Peter Broderick on the label\, just as\nNils Frahm and revelation A Winged Victory For The Sullen.\nNils Frahm (d)Pianist Nils Frahm learned his craft with\nNahum Brodski\, a student of none less than Tschaikowski. He\noperates his very own Durton Studio from out of Berlin. In\nthis lab\, he works together with kindred spirits like Peter\nBroderick\, Ólafur Arnalds\, Anne Müller\, Deaf Center\,\nEfterklang and Dustin O’Halloran. His flock of fans grew\nquickly with the solo piano albums 'Wintermusik'\n(‘09)\, ‘The Bells’ (‘09) and 'Felt'\, Uncut\nand Q crowned his latest album with **** reviews. Thom Yorke\nis also a fan and placed Nils Frahm in the Radiohead’s HQ\noffice chart. Listening to Nils Frahm is to enter into his\npersonal microcosm full of beauty.  A Winged Victory For The\nSullen Chamber Orchestra (us)A Winged Victory For The Sullen\nis the unique collaborative project of Dustin O’Halloran\nand Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie. Their untitled debut was\nreleased last year and was heaped with rave reviews. De\nMorgen wrote of it: “The dialogue between\nO'Halloran's minimalistic piano style and\nWiltzie's stylish orchestral arrangements often delivers\nstaggeringly beautiful results.” And also: “Of surreal\nbeauty”. And: “compositions that move one with their\nsimplicity”. Especially for AB – and for the first time\nin Belgium – AWVFTS will be performing with a 20-member\n(!) chamber orchestra. Unique!
