T.C.Matic: Choco 1983
The third and most impressive of T.C.Matic. Containing Putain Putain, of course, but also adrenaline bursts like Ha Ha and Arrivederci Solo, aside dance trance like Living On My Instinct and If You Wanna Dance, Dance, If You Don’t, Don’t. Plus even more of those French excursions à la L’Amour N’Est Pas Avec Moi. Choco was a sledgehammer-blow from a spirited live band. That energy was finally fruitfully registered here, in the studio. The last T.C.Matic production by Jean-Marie Aerts. The last bass-parts by Ferre too. A band on the eve of big fame. That, after 4 LPs, more than 300 concerts and a tour with Simple Minds... didn't end up happening after all. Ex-T.C.Matic tour-manager and AB-promoter Marc Decock also remembers more than that about the album of 1983.
33 1/3 – Classic Album Listening Sessions
The idea behind Huis 33 1/3 is as simple as can be: music lovers gathering to listen to a 'classic' album - uninterrupted and in the most ideal circumstances possible (technical equipment, surroundings,..) - always introduced by an adept of the album in question.
With this new series, we want to offer an alternative to the way the musical experience has evolved over recent years. By listening to considerably compressed mp3’s, YouTube films, or to sites like Spotify with small small earplugs or via laptop speakers, we obliviously miss essential elements of the music.
Many albums were created as an artwork in themselves and so deserve to be listened to in their entirety. A great deal of attention was often paid to obtaining the best possible sound quality, the artwork, the order of the songs, the mood of the songs and the ‘story’ the artist wanted to involve the listener in. In many cases, no effort was spared to record the albums in the best studios, in order to make use of the best sounding mixing tables, microphones, pre-amps, compressors, reverbs, etc... All of this is completely destroyed in a few mouse-clicks.
During the 33 1/3 sessions will will listen to an album in its entirety - without interruption and with the best possible technical means -and in this way attempt to experience the album as it was originally intended to be heard when it was recorded, mastered and released.
