9:00 pm Sophia
It's already ’04 since that Sophia last appeared in AB. In the meantime there is a more than good reason to return. The band built around Robin Proper-Sheppard will soon release its latest album upon the world, ‘There Are No Goodbyes’. Lets just ask Robin what we can expect:
"It's a sad record.
Quite possibly the darkest record I've ever made.
Surprise! Sophia? Sad? Dark? I know. I know...
But how else can I describe it? It hurt writing these songs.
It hurt recording these songs. And it still hurts when I listen to these songs.
Truthfully? It still hurts LIVING these fucking songs.
And don't worry, I'm acutely aware of how pathetic that sounds...
But here I am. Here's my life."
8:00 pm William Fitzsimmons
May we warmly and gently urge you to be on time for this formidable opener? Admittedly: the name William Fitzsimmons now only sounds exceptionally illustrious to the ear, but that'll soon change. Fans of Iron & Wine, Elliott Smith or Sufjan Stevens will immediately welcome this troubadour into their hearts. The generously bearded songwriter and son of blind parents has already made three albums, including the most recent ‘The Sparrow And The Crow’ , which should also be available here soon. In the US he tours as an appropriate opener to Madeleine Peyroux and his music could already be heard in the successful TV series Grey’s Anatomy. Boston Herald wrote of his most recent record: "A Near Masterpiece. … Fitzsimmons artistic achievement is huge and lasting".
